Glenn Wilson, one of the key players during the club’s Isthmian League era, hung up his boots on Saturday after our last game of the season against AFC Croydon Athletic.
Β
Glenn has given outstanding service to the club since making his debut six years ago during the 2020/21 season which was declaredΒ null andΒ void because of Covid.
Β
He has gone on to make 143 appearances for the Wasps, many of them as captain since Drew Cooney took over as first-team manager in 2022.
Β
Glenn has been a popular player both in the dressing room and with the Grin Army because of his committed performancesΒ in the heartΒ of our defence… and his accuracy from the penalty spot!
Β
Drew said: “It’s the end of an era in a way because Glenn has been a mainstay of the team for a while now and a massive support to me as manager.
Β
“He has often played through injury to help the team and has been a big presence in the dressing room with his inspirational and committed performances. It’s a sad day because Glenn’s boots are going to take some filling and it goes without saying that he will always be welcome back at the club.”
