Everyone at East Grinstead Town FC would like to send their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rhys Wood, who tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident in the town yesterday.
Rhys played for our third team up to the season before last before joining EG Meads and will be fondly remembered by his teammates and the team’s management for his passion, dedication and sheer joy of wearing the Wasps’ no. 10 shirt.
We are also praying that Wasps players Matt Apps and Craig Pither, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, make a full recovery. Our thoughts are with them and their families at this difficult time as well as the loved ones of the two other former Wasps who suffered minor injuries in the accident.
As a mark of respect and to remember Rhys, our players will wear black armbands and we will observe a minute’s silence before tomorrow’s Isthmian League game against Lancing.
