With a depleted team and no subs this was always going to be a difficult match against a strong Lewes side. Lewes took an early two goal lead before Wasps started to fight back. After a couple of good chances Town scored when Steve Major hit a right foot shot from long range into the top left hand corner of the net. For the next 10 minutes Town really did take the game to the visitors but conceded 2 weak goals just before half time.
The second half saw Lewes wear down a stubborn Grinstead rearguard action.
Well done to the 11 Grinstead players who gave their best for 90 minutes.
Team : Weise, Cooney, Green, Croft, Johnston, Taylor, Pelling, Lancashire, Neville, Major and Curtis.

Town squandered a 2-0 lead to give all three points to local rivals Oakwood. Wasps got off to a great start when after 5 minutes the Oakwood defence was completly all over the pass, the home defence did not clear the ball and it rebounded off two defenders before rolling into the home net for an own goal. The lead certainly gave Town some much needed confidence and they extended the lead after 20 minutes. A cross from Scott Johnston found Steve Major and he headed it past the keeper.
Oakwood got a soft goal after 35 minutes when Town did not clear a near post corner and then a break by the home team just before half time put them on level terms.
The second half was very dull in comparison with the winning goal very fortunate. The ball rebounded off the keeper into the path of the Oakwood forward to score from close range.
Team : Brisefer, Buckingham, Green, Lancashire, Neville, Johnston, Pelling, Taylor, Major, Lyell and Haylor Subs Used : Cooney, Croft, Hamilton,

East Grinstead fielded an inexperienced team due to injuries and unavailabilities and although they were defeated by a competent Horsham team the home side never gave up. The vistors took an early lead which they retained to half time. The Wasps best passage of play came in the first 20 minutes of the second half when they had some half chances.
Horsham sealed the victory with two goals in the last 20 minutes.
Team : Brisefer, Cooney, Johnston, Croft, Howick, Neville, Curtis, Pelling , Read, Major and Hamilton. Subs Used : Atkinson-Beeney and Taylor

The under-18s bowed out of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday when they went down 3-0 at home to Maidstone United, of the Kent Youth League.
Our visitors thoroughly deserved their victory which was secured with two goals from Rupon Anand in the second half and a 14th-minute strike by Robin Clark.
We struggled to create much but substitute Tom Hamilton made an impact in the second half and had our best effort, a shot from close range which forced Maidstone goalkeeper Adam Harris to make a fine save. At the other end Dan Brisefer was outstanding in our goal.

East Grinstead collected three valuable league points in a game they controlled from the start. The first half saw Grinstead take a grip of the game as they dominated both territory and possession. It was no surprise when they took the lead when a deflected shot fell kindly to Craig Lancashire he finished from 8 yards. Town did not sit back and they scored their second goal in the 35th minute when Craig Haylor battled through the home defence to score from close range.
The second half saw Town have the advantage of the slope and they missed chances to put the game out of reach. Both teams were reduced to 10 players midway through the second half in separate incidents although this certainly did not reflect what was a competitive but good spirited local derby.
Lingfield scored from a long range shot in the 80th minute but the Grinstead defence stood firm to win the game.
Team : Brisefer, Buckingham, Cooney, Lancashire, Green, Croft, Pelling, Taylor, Haylor, Lyell and Major Subs Used : Read and Hamilton

| :: East Grinstead Town 0, Bromley 1 :: |

Town Under 18's faced a strong Bromley side in the Southern Youth League Cup and were denied taking their visitors to extra time when they conceded the only goal of the game in the 85th minute.
It was Town who started brightly and they dominated the early exchanges.
However as the first half continued Bromley started to take a grip on the game. A few adjustments were made at half time by Town as they tried to stop the threat of the Bromley wide players. The second half saw Town put a more competitive performance as captain Tom Green led the defence with great authority. Although Bromley got into some good positions they squandered a number of chances. It was actually Town who nearly broke the deadlock when a ball from Major found Haylor but his shot was well saved by the visiting keeper.
The only goal came with just a few minutes remaining, Town keeper pulled off a tremendous save but had no chance with the follow-up shot.
An excellent effort from the Under 18's against a good Bromley side.
Team : Brisefer, Cooney, Johnston, Green, Croft, Curtis, Read, Taylor, Neville, Major and Haylor Subs Used : Lyell, Howick and Pelling

East Grinstead were knocked out of the County Cup when a depleted squad went to Horsham on Sunday. With many of the squad unavailable due to work committments it did give the Manager an opportunity to look at other players. With no goalkeeper available, Tom Green had to go in goal and was certainly not at fault for the two first half goals that Town conceded.
Young defender Dane Howick impressed in his first start for the Under 18's.
Town were really struggling due to injuries to two of the back four, Bobby Buckingham and Craig Lancashire. At half time Manager Mickey Buckingham was forced to make changes with Craig Lancashire switched to keeper and Bobby Buckingham taken off. He was replaced by youngster David Major, making his debut for the Under 18's.
The second half saw an excellent performance from debutant Tom Hamilton, who was a constant threat on the right hand side. Although Town conceded two second half goals they also went close to scoring themselves. First a Major header was cleared off the line and then a Dan Taylor shot from 25 yards was saved by the home keeper.
Team : Green, Buckingham, Neville, Lancashire, Howick, Hamilton, Read, Taylor, Pelling, Atkinson-Beney and Haylor.
Sub Used : Major D.

| :: Horley Town 1, East Grinstead Town 0 :: |
This was a game that East Grinstead totally dominated but came away with nothing. The first five minutes set the tone for the evening with Grinstead having three goal scoring opportunities and not taking them. The home side scored following a rare period of time in the East Grinstead half. From a Horley corner they won two headers and scored from close range. The goal drove Grinstead on and they created even more chances in the last 10 minutes of the first half with no avail.
The second half was even more dominated by Grinstead as they took a complete stranglehold on the game. The more they tried the more chances they squandered - it was just one of those nights!
Team : Brisefer, Buckingham, Cooney, Green, Croft, Read, Pelling, Taylor, Lancashire, Major and Haylor.
Subs Used : Curtis, Neville and Howick

East Grinstead Town Under 18's got their season off to a great start with a tremendous victory at Ryman League Cliub, Horsham Town, on Wednesday evening. This was the Under 18's first league match in the highly competitive Southern Youth League and it was a well deserved victory.
The first half saw Grinstead start brightly and they dominated both
territory and possession. Whilst there were few chances in the early
exchanges it was Wasps who went closest to scoring, when following a good
move, Matt Read went narrowly wide with his header. After half hour Town
were dealt a blow when they lost defender Scott Johnston with an ankle
injury and they had to quickly re-arrange the team. In the final minute of
the first half Town nearly snatched the lead when Dan Taylor hit the post
with a powerful shot from 20 yards.
With the game goaless at half time Town were fully aware that they still
had a difficult 45 minutes in front of them. That was certainly the case
when almost from the second half re-start Horsham took the lead with a
close range effort that gave keeper, Dan Brisefer, no chance. This was now
going to show the character of the Under 18 squad and they responded
superbly. The back three of Lancashire, Croft and Cooney started to
dominate a lively Horsham forward line and Marc Pelling began to find space
behind the Horsham defence with some long diagonal passes.
The equaliser for Town came on the hour when Miles Neville whipped in a low
cross for Craig Haylor to stab home at the near post. It was nothing more
than Grinstead deserved and the introduction of Dane Howick and James Lyell
gave Wasps the fresh legs they needed to keep pressing forward.
When it looked like the game was heading for a draw with only a few minutes
to go their was one final twist in the match. Winger Zac Curtis beat the
Horsham defender and crossed the ball into the box and Steve Majorwith a
diving header found the corner of the net.
The win gave Grinstead a great start to their league campaign and it was an
excellent all round squad performance which showed both character and
skill.
Team : Brisefer, Croft, Lancashire, Johnston, Neville, Pelling, Taylor,
Read, Curtis, Major and Haylor. Subs (All Used) : Cooney, Lyell and Howick
