:: Worthing United 2, East Grinstead Town 2 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
A great point for Town Under 18's but it could have been all three. Worthing have only lost once this season but went behind after 10 minutes when Steve Major scored at the far post. Worthing equalised and it renmained at 1-1 at half time. Town took the lead after 65 minutes when Joel Baker scored and it was a lead Town fully deserved.
It looked as if all three points were Town's until they conceded a last minute goal from a corner; even so it was an excellent result for the Under 18's.
Team : Daniels, Buckingham, Turville, Green, Comber, Baker, Atkinson-Beeney, Lancashire, Patel, Major and Goodwin. Subs Used : Dart and Curtis

:: Three Bridges 0, East Grinstead Town 2 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
Wasps Under 18's stormed to an excellent away win against local rivals Three Bridges in an exciting end-to-end encounter in the Southern Youth League on Wednesday evening. Apart from the first ten minutes of the game when Bridges held the upper hand, the game was dominated by a lively and competitive East Grinstead team who showed great bouncebackability. With new Town keeper, Daniel, in excellent form, Town could take the game to the home side. Hayden Comber had an early shot for Town that was blocked and Zac Curtis was also unlucky with a first half effort. Grinstead's attacking play paid dividends after 40 minutes when Andy Goodwin picked up a ball on the edge of the area and his shot deceived the keeper and crept into the net.

The Town defence of Buckingham, Turville, Green and Ash was superb througout and were rarely troubled in the second half. With Craig Lancashire and Joel Baker starting to dominate the midfield battle they began to create a number of chances. Both Steve Major and Andy Goodwin went close to extending the lead and the second goal eventually came after 85 minutes when Major's left foot shot found the corner of the net.

This was an excellent team performance and Manager Mickey Buckingham was delighted with the performance and commented "We were very well organised at the back with the keeper very assured and we got forward very well and created a lot of good goal scoring opportunities."

Team : Daniel, Buckingham, Green, Turville, Ash, Lancashire, Comber, Baker, Goodwin, Major and Curtis. Subs : Patel, Croft and Johnston

:: Woking 5, East Grinstead Town 3 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
A tremendous effort from the the EG boys against a leading Conference Club. Wasps were 3-0 down after 25 minutes and there looked no way back. A goal after 35 minutes from Tom Green gave Town some hope and just before half time an own goal by Woking gave the half time score 3-2 to the home side.
The second half saw Town dominate and they deservedly drew level on 70 minutes through Andrew Goodwin. With five minutes to go Town nearly snatched victory when Michael Turville's shot hit the cross bar.
The game went to extra time and a dubious penalty after 10 minutes sealed the game before Woking scored a late 5th goal.
A great performance by Town
Team : O'Donnavan, Ash, Buckingham, Green, Turville, Goodwin, Patel, Coomber, Agutter, Baker and Major Subs (All Used) : Barber and Johnston
