East Grinstead Town U15’s finished third after winning 4-3 in an entertaining match against Horsham Crusaders in their final Horsham & District Youth Division B match of the season.
On a difficult surface both sides struggled to keep control of the ball in the early stages but once both sides adapted, they both started to create some chances. Town’s defence stood firm against Crusaders lively centre forward and it was Town who could have opened the scoring when the unlucky Michael Kseniuk first headed, then fired over the crossbar post two great crosses from Ollie Martin.
Town were on top but against the run of play fell behind when Crusaders fired in a dangerous free kick which Town’s keeper Ross King could only parry out for the a Crusaders player to react first to the loose ball to finish into an empty net.
Despite this setback Town responded as they have done all season and almost equalised after Connor Tobin just fired wide from 20 yards and the ever dangerous Dan Stewart narrowly headed over from a corner.
Town equalised after a terrific move with another great cross from Martin that found Town’s top scorer George Roser to power in an unstoppable header into the bottom corner to leave the sides level at half time.
Crusaders though started the second half strongly though without really creating a threatening chance. Stewart soon gave Town the lead with a rasping shot from twenty yards into the bottom corner for his fourteenth of a productive campaign. Town grew in confidence and Roser soon scored his second of the match and thirty third of a prolific season when he coolly finished another fine Town move.
Roser almost completed his hat trick but the keeper could only push out the ball to the alert Kseniuk to smash home Town’s fourth and then celebrate acrobatically.
Crusaders though came back strongly in the last fifteen minutes though and pulled back two goals to set up a nervy final three minutes for Town to hang on and claim all three points.
For his overall hard work upfront, two fine goals and team commitment George Roser was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "I was delighted with the lads' performance today on a difficult pitch as it wasn’t easy for us to control the ball in the first twenty minutes. We had to yet again come back from a goal down which was against the run of play.
Mikey was unlucky not to open his account twice in the first half but eventually he was rewarded for following up a rebound with the celebration of the season with his somersault / back flip.
The defence again held pretty firm until two soft goals near the end nearly gave Crusaders a point which would have been harsh on us so well done Matt, Dan, Harry G, Connor P and Danny.
The midfield guys again worked hard so well done Connor T, Luke, Frank, Harry H, Mikey and especially Ollie who delivered some great crosses during the game.
Finally last but not least George for his tireless effort upfront in taking his total to 33 for the season and being the Top Scorer in the Horsham League. Congratulations George. It wasn’t just the work up front by George, a couple of times he was the first player to get back to support the defence when the need arose for the team’s benefit.
So to sum it up to finish third in the league considering we were bottom when both Dan and George joined has been a tremendous turnaround by the whole squad as it has brought out the best in players and given players confidence which we have something to build on for our final season.
On behalf of myself, Martin, Alan and Gillian I’d like to thank you all for your efforts this season we have been the top scorers in the league been involved in some really entertaining games and were the only team to defeat St Paul’s Panthers the worthy Champions.
There will be one last training session this Thursday on the 3G pitch so hopefully all of you will be there. We will also be discussing entering a couple of tournaments as well."

East Grinstead Town U15’s returned to form with a convincing away victory when they beat Horsham Tigers Athletic 10-3 in their penultimate Horsham & District Youth Division B match.
Town started on the front foot and took an early lead when Frank Morgan-Rowe finished at the far post with the aid of a deflection after a fine flowing Town move. Town doubled their lead when the alert George Roser lobbed the stranded Athletic keeper from 25 yards into an empty net.
Town start to play some attractive football and Connor Tobin scored a brilliant individual goal that Lionel Messi would have been proud of when he picked the ball up in midfield and beat three Athletic players before flicking the ball over the last defender then the goal keeper for a truly sensational goal at any level of football.
Town piled forwards and Roser scored an excellent second when he took the ball round the keeper to roll the ball into an empty net. Town were creating a lot of chances in a one sided first half and captain Luke Hollidge popped up and coolly finished for his first goal of the season. Just before halftime Roser completed yet another hat trick and then grabbed a fourth to give dominant Town a well deserved seven nil halftime lead.
Town increased their advantage when Tobin scored his second after a fine flowing Town move. Athletic to their credit pulled a goal back when Towns defence switched off. Roser though scored his fifth of the game when he reacted sharpest to a loose ball in Athletic’s penalty area.
Ramz Islam scored Town’s tenth with a clever finish which he gleefully celebrated. Athletic to their credit kept going and scored two further consolation goals just before the end.
For his fine individual goal hard work in midfield Connor Tobin was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "I was looking for a response after our disappointing result against Ashington Cougars and what a response I got. We could have scored ten in the first half and two of those goals from Connor and George would have graced a much higher level. It wasn’t just the goal scorers though the whole team really played well in the first half and again it was great to see a positive response.
The second half I must give a lot of credit to Tigers as lesser teams would have folded but they didn’t and they scored three goals of their own.
It was always going to be difficult for us to keep up the same effort in the second half after our first half performance and we changed a lot of positions around to see players abilities for next season.
So well done lads a great response from you all, just one game to go now against Horsham Crusaders which we will need to win to finish third in the league."

East Grinstead Town U15’s lost their last home game of the season against Ashington Cougars 2-6 in their latest Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Town scored after two minutes after a fine defence splitting pass from Dan Stewart enabled Town’s prolific scorer George Roser to dispatch an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Cougars were rocked and Town were unlucky not to double their lead when Stewart was on the edge of Cougars area and kicked the ground, the ball ran free to Roser who thought he had scored only for the goal to be disallowed.
This proved the turning point in the game as Cougars soon equalised after a defensive mistake allowed the gleeful Cougars forward to clinically despatch a volley into the bottom corner. Town tried to respond in a game that they had to win, but were caught out by a long ball which Cougars forward ran onto and clinically finished to give Town’s keeper Ross King no chance.
Cougars increased their lead direct from a harshly awarded free kick when a fine shot went into the bottom corner. Town were shell shocked, as Cougars played some attractive football and they scored their fourth just before half time when Town were reduced to ten players whilst the recovering Stewart was waiting to come back on the pitch.
Town start the second half brightly and both Roser and Stewart almost reduced the arrears but couldn’t beat the keeper. Cougars though were always dangerous on the break as Town left themselves open at the back in search of a goal to get back into the game. Town fell further behind when the unlucky Connor Parker could only deflect a goal bound shot past the wrong footed King.
Town’s heads didn’t drop though and they gave themselves a flicker of hope when Roser deservedly got his second of the game with a tidy finish. Town still piled forwards but efforts from Ramz Islam, Michael Kseniuk and Connor Tobin were all well saved by Cougars keeper.
Inevitably though Cougars scored a sixth to end Town’s efforts and effectively end any chance they had of finishing now in the top two.
Again for his hard work upfront despite carrying a knock George Roser was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "This was as big a game for us as the previous hard earnt win against St Paul’s Panthers last week. We got off to the perfect start taking the lead so early but were unable to grab the second which we always needed to put Cougars under further pressure.
Again we had a loss of concentration for about ten minutes in the first half which cost us the game. Cougars are a well organised side and although we had chances, we gave ourselves a mountain to climb. It’s a shame because the lads had played so well the previous week against Panthers.
Congratulations to Cougars but we can still take some pride out of the game as we kept going despite the scoreline."
Town Squad: King, Gilmore, Parker, Whibley, Hollidge, Martin, Stewart, Tobin, Morgan-Rowe, Hill, Roser, Islam, Allonby, Kseniuk.

East Grinstead Town U15’s won an enthralling encounter against top of the table St. Paul’s Panthers 6-3 to inflict Panthers first league defeat of the season in their latest Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Town had to win this game to remain in with a chance of promotion against a strong Panthers side. Panthers created a couple of early chances that Town’s keeper Ross King dealt with comfortably. Town took the lead though directly from a wonderfully delivered corner from Frank Morgan-Rowe that curled into the top corner.
Panthers though equalised within a couple of minutes when they broke through Town’s defence before firing a great finish past King.
Town though responded strongly and regained the lead after a clever ball from Dan Stewart split the Panthers defence for the hard working George Roser to clinically finish past Panther’s keeper. Town were indebted a couple of times by two fantastic saves from King to deny Panthers a second equaliser. Town were lifted by this and Stewart scored Town’s third when he reacted first inside the six yard box to give Town a 3-1 lead at half time.
Roser increased Town’s lead when he made the most of a defensive mix up and rounded the keeper to walk the ball into an empty net. Panthers were shocked by this and bounced back strongly. They pulled back two goals as Town began to tire in their best period of the game and were only denied an equaliser when a goal was adjudged to have been offside.
Town though were still creating chances of their own and increased their lead when Stewart powered in a header to give Town some breathing space. Town completed the scoring after a fine cross from Ramz Islam was smashed home by Roser to complete his excellent hat trick.
For his outstanding performance in goal that inspired the whole team Ross King was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "Firstly I’d like to congratulate the whole team for putting in such an effort against a very strong Panthers side; you thoroughly deserved to win this game and we had a little bit of luck when we needed it and were indebted to Ross’s best game for us, as he made some outstanding saves at vital times.
It wasn’t just our goalie though, the defence gave everything, the midfield worked their socks off and George ran himself into the ground upfront and was a constant threat to their back four during the whole game. A thanks also to the supporters who came along and lifted the lads, it’s great to see you at the games, the lads appreciate it.
Our fitness was thoroughly tested in the second half when Panthers were piling forwards, so the benefit of having played the friendly against Copthorne last week benefited us.
We started this game strongly and got our noses in front which was key to put Panthers under pressure. They showed why they were top of the league and we dug in deep to get the result which we deserved. Again though we have got to stop back chatting referees, his decision is final. I’m not going to say anymore as I said this after the game to you all.
This was always going be a competitive match between two strong sides, only ourselves and Ashington have taken any points off Panthers this season so well done lads you rose to the challenge.
Again a couple of things to work on in training before our last home match of the season on Saturday against Ashington Cougars who are now top of the league and again will a tough match."
Town Squad: King, Gilmore, Parker, Whibley, Hollidge, Martin, Stewart, Tobin, Morgan-Rowe, Hill, Roser, Islam, Kseniuk, Wrintmore.

| :: Dorkinians U15's 6, East Grinstead Town U15's 4 :: |
East Grinstead Town U15’s lost their first game of 2012 6-4 against Dorkinians who inflicted a league double over Town.
In a blustery first half Town took a second minute lead after a clever chip from Dan Stewart found George Roser on the right hand side of the penalty area, Roser put a great low cross in for the onrushing Ramz Islam to apply the finishing touch. Ollie Martin almost doubled Town’s lead but he couldn’t beat the Dorkinians' keeper.
Dorkinians though responded to going a goal down and they took advantage of the wind behind them when they fired in an unstoppable free kick from fully thirty yards into the top corner, giving Town’s keeper Ross King absolutely no chance. This strike inspired Dorkinians and they soon took the lead when another unstoppable shot from distance hit the back of Town’s net.
Town were simply stunned by these two strikes and fell further behind when Dorkinians' clever forward wriggled his way through for the third. Town tried to get back in the game but were hit on the counter attack from their own corner for number four. Town should have been awarded a penalty but the foul was judged to have been outside the box. Dorkinians then completed Town’s worst half of the season by scoring a fifth right on half time.
A shell shocked Town changed their shape in the second half and almost immediately reduced the deficit after a fine flowing move but Islam was unable to beat the keeper when well placed. Dorkinians scored a sixth soon afterwards to leave Town with a mountain to climb.
To Town’s credit they started to attack Dorkinians with purpose and were soon rewarded when Stewart was upended in the penalty box. Roser took the penalty which the keeper saved but Roser reacted fastest to fire in the rebound. This gave Town the lift they needed and they pulled a further goal back when Frank Morgan-Rowe scored direct from a corner.
Dorkinians though were always a threat on the break and Town’s plight was not helped when both the not fully fit Connor Tobin and the injured Matt Whibley had to be taken off. Town thought they had scored a further goal when another Morgan-Rowe corner appeared to go over the line but this was not given which deflated Town.
Town created further chances through Stewart, Roser and an Islam shot that was superbly saved. Though as hard as they tried they could only manage a fourth via a further penalty from Roser after a Dorkinians defender saved a goal bound shot with both his hands.
For his tremendous effort in defence Connor Parker was awarded Leaders Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "This really was a game of two halves and the result was very disappointing. We simply didn’t turn up in the first half, and our first half performance simply was nowhere near the level that we had been performing before the Christmas break. Despite us taking an early lead we lost our shape once we went behind by two fantastic strikes from distance, we didn’t adapt to the blustery conditions. Instead of rolling our sleeves up we lost it in midfield by being second to the ball and gave ourselves a mountain to climb in the second half after conceding a couple of soft goals.
I was pleased with the second half fight back but we just can’t pull a five goal deficit around. The defence had to be altered several times due to us having to go for it and losing Matt to an injury. I thought Connor P yet again had a solid game in defence and never gave up. Ross also couldn’t be blamed for the goals either and picked up an injury after the game.
Both Ramz and George kept battling away up front with George showing great commitment when he came back to help support the over stretched defence.
In the second half I brought Connor T on as he really wanted to help the team but despite him only being 25% fit we really missed him in the middle of the pitch.
I can fully understand the player’s disappointment in not been awarded a goal from Frank’s corner but we have to learn not to back chat the referee when it is clear he isn’t going to change his decision no matter how hard it is for all of us to accept. He and the assistances do not have goal line technology nor the benefit of any cameras.
So although a disappointing result after a fantastic run we have to move on and bounce back positively in our next match and hopefully we will have a fully fit squad to choose from next time.
Again a couple of things to work on in training and our fitness levels before our next match against St Paul’s Panthers on Saturday 25th February."
Town Squad: King, Hollidge, Parker, Stewart, Whibley, Martin, Wrintmore, Morgan-Rowe, Kseniuk, Roser, Islam, Morgan, Tobin, Hill.

East Grinstead Town U15’s went top of the Horsham & District Youth Division B on goal difference after they beat Maidenbower United 6-0 in their last home match before the Christmas period.
Despite Town creating numerous chances in the opening twenty minutes it fell to Town’s top scorer George Roser to make the breakthrough when he burst clear of United’s defence before coolly finishing from twelve yards.
Dan Stewart, Luke Hollidge, Harry Hill and Connor Tobin all could have doubled Town’s lead but United’s goalie made some vital saves to keep United in the game. Eventually though Roser grabbed his second to give Town a two goal advantage at half time.
Town started the second half on the front foot and after a fine flowing move through Danny Morgan, Paul Wrintmore and a great cross from Tobin set it up for Stewart to apply the finishing touch to score Town’s third.
Town then started to dominate and it was again Stewart who fired in his second and Town’s fourth when he created some space inside the penalty box. United kept battling away but Town’s keeper Ross King didn’t really have a save to make.
Stewart then completed his hat trick when he beat three defenders before firing an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner for Town’s fifth. United’s goalie then made two outstanding saves from the unlucky Hill before also saving a Roser penalty.
Roser though wasn’t going to be denied his hat trick as he reacted quickest in the six yard box to fire in Town’s sixth and his nineteenth goal of the season.
For his fine individual goal and hat trick Dan Stewart was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "This was our last game of 2011 and I’m so proud of the whole squad for their efforts in turning things around. Six games ago we were propping up the division on goal difference and we have ended this year on top even if it is only on a goal difference of one better than St Paul’s Panthers and they have two games in hand. It’s still great to be there though.
Today’s efforts for both sides was real hard work on the pitch. I really thought in the first half that United did well to keep the score down to only two nil. We should have been five or six in front, only some great saves, the post and some agonising misses prevented us from going in with a bigger lead at half time which our overall first half performance deserved.
In the second half we started to pass the ball around better and both Dan and George got the hat tricks that their overall efforts deserved. The defence yet again had solid games protecting Ross, so he didn’t really have a worthwhile save to make so well done to Harry G, Matt, Dan, Connor P and Danny for again giving us that solid look at the back.
The midfield battled their way through the heavy conditions and all of you put in the effort that was required so thanks, Connor T, Frank, Luke, Micheal, Ollie and Paul.
The forwards George and the unlucky Harry H who deserved a goal for his effort kept United’s back four under constant pressure and again we improved our goal difference which could prove crucial at the end of the season.
I’d like to thank both Ollie and Connor T for their honesty when both weren’t feeling well enabling others to come on in their place they both easily could have stayed on for the benefit of the team, that is what a squad is about you all have your part to play.
So there are still five tough games left to play in 2012 and there’s a lot to be decided but all we can keep doing is putting pressure on the others around us in the league.
Our first game in 2012 is away to Horsham Tigers Athletic on Saturday 7th January 2012.
Well done lads on behalf of Gillian, Martin, Alan and myself have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all and your families.

East Grinstead Town U15’s won their latest home match 13-0 against Hurstpierpoint Colts in the Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Even though Colts only had nine players they put up a spirited effort and could have taken the lead but a shot rebounded off Towns post. George Roser almost opened the scoring but his effort clipped the top of Colt’s bar.
Town eventually opened the scoring when Town’s ever alert centre back Dan Stewart was in the right place to fire in a rebound from Colt’s keeper into the net to give Town the lead they deserved. Town grew in confidence and scored a wonderful second when Connor Tobin crossed a great ball for the onrushing Ollie Martin to fire an unstoppable volley into the roof of the net. Roser then scored his first two goals of the game before Tobin went on a run from outside of the box before firing into the bottom corner. Town started to pass the ball around their opposition and Roser completed an excellent first half hat trick with an excellent finish for Town’s sixth on the stroke of half time.
Colts started strongly in the second half but Town dealt with their efforts and scored their seventh when Frank Morgan-Rowe coolly slotted home from the edge of the box for his first goal for Town.
Further goals from Stewart, Tobin, Harry Hill and Roser came shortly afterwards. Tobin then completed his hat trick before Colts had a penalty saved by Town’s keeper Ross King.
Roser completed Town’s scoring when he coolly slotted home a penalty for his fifth and Town’s thirteenth against brave opposition.
For his excellent goal and hard work in midfield Ollie Martin was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "First of all I’d like to give Colts a big pat on the back for their battling display despite only having nine players. They really did themselves proud and their manager for still trying to play attractive football against the odds. Lesser teams would have folded under the circumstances.
Although it took us a while to score the opening goal eventually we took the chance and soon a few more followed after we started to pass the ball around and use the numerical advantage that we had. Some of the finishing was outstanding in the game especially Ollie’s effort, couple of both Georges, Connor’s and it was great to see Frank get the goal that he has deserved to get in recent weeks.
Again the defence stood firm as one would expect but Colt’s still managed to create a couple of chances which luckily we got away with. Ross only really had to make one defining save and that was from the penalty so well done Ross.
Although we created a lot of chances in the second half we were not passing the ball around as well as we did in the first half, probably at times if being honest we were being too greedy and were trying to score the individual goal instead of setting up others who were better positioned.
The most important thing is that we are creating the chances in every game and the goals will come.
Myself, Martin and Alan were pleased with the result and the hard work you are putting in training is starting to reap the benefits. Despite now being in second place in the league although others have games in hand there are still six tough games to play before the end of the season and a lot to play for. All we can do is put pressure on the other teams around us and hopefully improve our goal difference which we have done to your credit in the last two games.
Our next match is at home against Maidenbower United this week weather permitting. Well done lads again keep up the good work."

East Grinstead Town U15’s won their latest away match 14-2 against Maidenbower United in the Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Town opened the scoring through a fantastic finish from Ollie Martin. Town created several other chances before George Roser wriggled his way through United’s defence and fired a shot into the bottom corner. Town then produced a fine flowing team move which Martin unfortunately was unable to apply the finishing touch.
United created a couple of half chances to get back into the game but, were unable to convert them. Frank Morgan-Rowe thought he had opened his account for Town when his wonderful free kick was ruled out for being taken too early and his retaken effort then came back off the bar.
Connor Tobin though then scored two fine individual goals before Roser completed the first half scoring to give Town a five nil lead that was well deserved on their first half performance.
United started the second half brightly but fell further behind when Tobin completed his hat trick with a thumping finish from the edge of the area. United’s heads didn’t drop and they pulled a goal back through a fine finish. The alert Harry Hill scored Town’s seventh before Roser took over to score four fine goals to take his tally to six in the match. Further goals from Ramz Islam, Tobin and Dan Stewart completed Town’s tally before United scored a spectacular goal to complete the scoring.
For his superb double hat trick George Roser was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
The result though was overshadowed by one of United’s players being taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg following a fall after he seemed to catch his foot on the uneven pitch.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "First of all on behalf of my players, myself, Gillian, Martin, Alan, parents and the club, we all wish Maidenbower United’s brave Jordan a speedy recovery post his unfortunate broken leg during the game.
I must give great credit to both set of players for the way they conducted themselves and for continuing the last twenty minutes of the game when in the end the result didn’t matter as all our thoughts were elsewhere.
Turning to the positives though, I thought our first half performance was superb and we deserved to be five goals infront. Michael worked hard upfront without getting a reward for his efforts and it was great to see Ollie get on the score sheet in what was his best game for us.
Again both George and Connor scored hat trick’s, one a double hat trick so the team are now benefitting from clinical finishing which we weren’t doing at the start of the season. It was also good to see others getting on the score sheet through Harry H, Ramz and Dan.
Frank was unlucky with his quick thinking free kick and I’m sure a goal is just around the corner for him. The defence again stood firm which is pleasing to see.
A few positional changes were made in the second half to give everybody a run out and towards the end we lost our shape a bit which we will need to concentrate on when on top in games but we did score nine goals which has helped our goal difference.
Overall though I was pleased with our performance and strengthens our position in the table. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us so that we can play out next two games at home before Christmas starting this Saturday against Hurstpierpoint Colts.
Well done again lads and thanks for your respect and sportsmanship for Jordan."

East Grinstead Town U15’s continued their climb up the table after beating Horsham Tigers Athletic 4-1 in their latest Horsham & District Youth League Division B home game.
Town started the game brightly but were unable to create a clear cut opening. It took a brilliant solo effort from Connor Tobin to penetrate Athletics rigid defence. He beat three players before cutting inside the edge of the box and fired an un-stoppable shot to give Town the lead that they deserved.
Ramz Islam almost doubled the lead but his superb shot was tipped around the post by Athletic’s keeper. Despite Town dominating the first half they were unable to increase their lead.
Town stepped up their game at the start of the second half and doubled their lead after a perfectly delivered corner from Frank Morgan-Rowe was headed in by the towering Dan Stewart. Town started to create further chances and Stewart scored his second goal of the game after a fine pull back by Islam.
Athletic though pulled a goal back through their lively centre forward to reduce the arrears. Despite Athletic’s best spell of the game, Town’s defence of Matt Whibley, Luke Hollidge, Harry Gilmore and Stewart prevented Ross King from having any further saves to make. Town weathered the pressure and created further chances which both Michael Kseniuk and George Roser were unable to convert.
Roser got his rewards when he followed up a re-bound from the goal keeper to tuck away Town’s fourth goal to seal their victory that their play deserved.
This win moves Town up to third place in the table after a great team performance.
For his superb opening goal and overall effort in midfield Connor Tobin was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "A well deserved three points for our best overall team performance of the season. Despite only scoring one goal in the first half, both myself and Martin were confident that we would go on and score more goals in the second half. The midfield quartet Connor, Jacob, Ollie and Frank put a lot of effort in the first half closing Athletic down and spraying some lovely passes. Again Dan, Matt, Luke and Harry had solid games in defence protecting Ross for his quietest game of the season.
This time we closed down Athletic’s ever dangerous forward and limited him to just the one clear cut chance which though he scored from, so a lesson to be learned for the return game early in the New Year.
George and Ramz kept plugging away upfront and eventually the chances came in the second half. Connor scored a terrific opening goal and we were rewarded for our extra effort in training when Frank’s terrific corner was powered home by Dan to score the crucial second goal.
George got the final goal his overall effort deserved. Michael Robbie and Danny also all contributed when they came on in the second half to give us extra impetus when it was required.
A couple of things to work on again in training before our next away match against Maidenbower Colts on Saturday. Again well done lads keep up the same effort next week."

East Grinstead Town U15’s came away from St. Paul’s Panthers with a dramatic 5-5 draw ending Panther’s 100% league record in their latest Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Town knew that this was going to be a tough challenge and fell behind in the third minute to an unchallenged header from a corner. Panthers grew in confidence from this early goal and soon scored a second direct from a corner which Town’s keeper Ross King was unlucky to prevent from crossing the line. Despite this setback Town pressed forwards in search of getting back into the game but their final ball to the forwards was letting them down.
Town’s defence though stood firm until half time. Town started the second half in a much more positive frame of mind and reduced the deficit after a fine run by George Roser who set up the on rushing Dan Stewart to fire into the bottom corner. This lifted Town who now piled forwards in search of an equaliser.
Town though fell further behind against the run of play after Stewart had been fouled but no free kick was awarded and Panthers' forward slotted home. Town’s players were astonished by this lack of decision but instead of dropping their heads this inspired them to a dramatic turn around. Roser smashed in a twenty-five yard free kick, Stewart fired in an equaliser and Connor Tobin powered in an unstoppable header to give Town a 4-3 lead in the space of ten minutes.
Incredibly Panthers responded to going behind by scoring two quick goals themselves to regain the lead.
Finally Town scored a dramatic equaliser with five minutes to go when the alert Harry Hill gleefully scored a dramatic equaliser. Both teams still could have won it. Tobin skimmed the outside of the post from twenty five yards and Town were indebted to a great save by King’s outstretched leg in the last minute of the game.
For his fantastic free kick that inspired Town’s second half fight back George Roser was awarded Leader’s Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "Although before the game I would have been delighted to have taken a point against strong opponents, our second half performance could have seen us take all three points but in the end we were grateful to have taken a point from what was a terrific game of competitive football from which both sides can take a lot of credit.
Yet again though we had to come from behind in a game and conceded two soft goals which we will be working on this week in training to prevent. In the first half we didn’t really create a clear cut chance as we couldn’t find a quality final ball to George and Rams. Panthers were on top and I was pleased to keep the score to just two nil at half time.
The second half we came out fast and were rewarded after a fine run by George set up Dan to get us back into the match. We were on top and searching for an equaliser when Dan was fouled but amazingly no free kick was given and Panthers cruelly punished us by going three one up.
I can fully understand the players' disappointment in not obtaining a free kick but we have to learn not to back chat the referee when it is clear he isn’t going to change his decision no matter how hard it is for all of us to accept.
A lesser team would have thrown the towel in but the boys responded tremendously and were inspired by George’s fantastic free kick.
I felt Jacob had a great second half for us and both Dan and George have given us that extra strength that has been missing from the side earlier in the season.
It was just a shame after the lads had worked their socks off to get us into the lead that we lost concentration and allowed Panthers to regain the lead again. Yet again the team’s spirit of never giving up was rewarded when Harry H popped up with a deserved equaliser. Not many teams will take points off Panthers this season so well done lads.
Again a couple of things to work on in training before our next match against Horsham Tigers Athletic on Saturday."
Town Squad: King, Gilmore, Parker, Stewart, Wibley, Hollidge, Wrintmore, Tobin, Kseniuk, Roser, Islam, Allonby, Morgan, Hill.

East Grinstead Town U15’s played their first game in four weeks and beat previously undefeated Horsham Crusaders 6 - 1 in the Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
In an entertaining game both sides played some attractive football and Town almost took an early lead through debutant George Roser but Crusaders keeper denied him. Town’s keeper King also made a fine early save to deny Crusaders dangerous forward. Crusaders put Town’s defence under pressure but some superb tackles by debutant Dan Stewart denied a clear shooting opportunity.
Crusaders took the lead through a fantastically struck free kick from twenty five yards that King was unable to prevent despite his valiant effort.
Town nearly fell further behind when they were caught on the break from a corner by Crusaders forward who executed a brilliant lob over King but the ball hit the crossbar to Town’s relief. This lifted Town and a couple of fine efforts from Connor Tobin and Robbie Watson were well saved by Crusaders keeper.
Town equalised just before half time after a fine through pass from Ollie Martin set Roser away, his shot was parried into the onrushing Ramz Islam who rolled it into an empty net.
The second half started with both teams having chances and both Islam and Roser were denied by Crusaders brave keeper. Town eventually broke through when Tobin burst clear of Crusaders defence before clipping the ball over the advancing keeper. Town piled forward and Roser finally got the goal his efforts deserved when he headed the ball over the Crusaders keeper into an empty net. Crusaders fought back and should have pulled one back but a shot just went wide.
Town pulled further infront when Stewart scored Town’s fourth from a corner. Town looked dangerous every time they attacked and Roser scored his second after Islam broke away down the right before delivering a great near post cross for Roser to apply the finishing touch.
The best goal of the game was saved to the end by the outstanding Stewart who beat two defenders before firing an unstoppable twenty yard screamer into the top right hand corner which the Crusaders keeper couldn’t quite get his hands too despite his despairing dive.
This result moved Town off the bottom of the table and into joint second place with Crusaders.
For his overall contribution and goal of the match Dan Stewart was awarded Leaders Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "Considering this was our first game in four weeks and we reshuffled a few positions the lads started the game brightly but couldn’t find the opening goal. Although Crusaders scored a superb free kick, I was disappointed that we gave away a needless free kick in a dangerous area. We have to stop giving the opposition free kicks around our box.
I was really pleased the lad’s heads didn’t go down and had every confidence that we would eventually take one of these. It was great for Ramz to be in the right place to follow up George’s parried shot and proves the point a two yard finish is as important as one from distance and to follow up in case a goalie spills a shot.
At half time both myself and Martin believed we would go on and win the game but we were both delighted for the lads with the outcome. It was a great team effort, with Matt, Dan, Connor P, Luke and Sam keeping the defence tight protecting Ross in goal to just a handful of saves during the whole match.
Connor, Paul, Robbie, Ollie, and Jacob al contributed in midfield whilst George, Ramz and Harry led the line well and created numerous chances.
Both George and Dan have brought extra strength and quality to the side and it was fitting to see Dan fire in an unstoppable shot to complete the scoring, the goal was as good a goal as you will see in the Premiership and was applauded by all the spectators at the match.
A couple of things to improve on again in training before our tough away match at undefeated leaders St Paul’s Panthers next week. Well done lads that was the result we knew was coming and well deserved"

| :: Ashington Cougars U15's 3, East Grinstead Town U15's 1 :: |
East Grinstead Town U15’s lost their latest away game of the season 1 - 3 against Ashington Cougars in the Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Cougars started the game brightly and were only denied taking an early lead through some excellent tackles by Town’s centre back Harry Simonis and two fine saves from Town’s keeper Ross King. Town almost scored themselves after a fine flowing move between Frank Morgan-Rowe and Connor Tobin but Rams Islam was unable to apply the finishing touch the move deserved. Tobin then had a low effort tipped around the post by Cougars keeper.
As Town grew in confidence they were hit by an excellent counter attack, King saved the initial shot but the ball ran kindly to Cougars ever alert forward who had a simple task of tapping in the rebound. Town were rocked by this and fell further behind to a suspiciously looking offside goal that the forward gleefully took advantage of giving King no chance.
Town had to reshuffle the back four as both Luke Hollidge and Sam Thomas limped off with a couple of injuries and did well to go in at half time with no addition to the score.
In the second half Town came out firing on all cylinders and piled on the pressure and almost pulled a goal back when both Islam and Tobin had shots well saved. The excellent Simonis then rattled the Cougars bar from twenty yards and the rebound was bundled wide. Town were well on top and totally against the run of play, Towns defence were caught out trying to pass the ball out and Cougars grabbed a third when their winger fired a cross come shot that flew into the top corner.
Although Town felt deflated to concede, they kept pressing forwards and were finally rewarded when the alert Harry Hill reacted quickest inside the box to fire into the bottom corner. Town again were visibly lifted by this and kept pressing the Cougars goal but unfortunately Cougars defence stood firm until the final whistle, denying Town the point their second half performance deserved.
Both teams deserve credit as they both played their part in an entertaining game on an excellent pitch.
For his excellent defending and reading of the game Harry Simonis was awarded Leaders Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "I really felt that the lads deserved a point out of this game after their second half performance on another day we would have scored four or five goals the breaks are just not happening for us at the moment in front of goal.
Again we conceded the opening goal and were chasing the game which we need to prevent from happening. We were again not helped by the injuries suffered by both Luke and Sam meaning we had to yet again reshuffle the team to accommodate. Ross had another excellent game in goal and is growing in confidence with every match. Harry S was a rock at the heart of the defence and both Connor and Matt also helped out there when the need arised. Michael played well at left back when he came on to replace Sam and although not in his favoured position, it helped us keep the shape of the defence for the rest of the game.
Frank had another good game out on the left and both Paul and Ollie contributed some hard work in midfield especially in the second half when we were on top. Ramz kept battling away upfront and Harry H took his chance well.
We created several chances in the second half once we started to play some decent football but just couldn’t pull a goal back when it was still two nil. I certainly can’t fault the lads for trying as they gave everything in the second half and I know that the results will turnaround once they start believing in their own abilities."
Town Squad: King, Gilmore, Thomas, Hollidge, Simonis, Whibley, Martin, Wrintmore, Morgan-Rowe, Islam, Tobin, Keseniuk, Hill, Watson.

| :: Horsham Tigers Athletic U15's 2, East Grinstead Town U15's 1 :: |
East Grinstead Town U15’s lost a feisty Cup game 2 - 1 against Horsham Tigers Athletic.
Town started the game on the offensive and a couple of half chances created by the hard working Ollie Martin fell to both Connor Tobin and Ramz Islam but both efforts just went narrowly wide. Athletic’s lively forward also had a couple of efforts well saved by Towns keeper Ross King.
Town almost took the lead when Tobin rose above everybody to head just wide from a Frank Morgan-Rowe corner. Athletic grew in confidence from Town not taking their chances and narrowly missed an opportunity from a corner of their own. The game became more competitive and unfortunately a couple of Town players got themselves booked for arguing a referee's decision. Town appeared to become unsettled by this and just before half time Town’s defence were caught napping allowing Athletic’s winger to cut in and wrong foot the unfortunate King in goal to take the lead.
After regrouping at half time Town opened the second half strongly and scored a deserved equaliser after a Matt Whibley shot was controlled by Tobin before he slotted it into the bottom corner for his third goal of the season. Town were now on top and started to play some good football but couldn’t get the goal their play deserved. The closet they came was when Wibley headed against the underside of the bar but unfortunately it didn’t bounce across the line.
Athletic were lifted by this close escape and started to pile forwards themselves and their centre forward started to niggle away at Town’s back four of Luke Hollidge, Connor Parker Harry Gilmore and Sam Thomas. A further Town player was booked post some unnecessary scrimmaging between Athletics’s centre forward and Town’s keeper due to it being a competitive cup tie.
As both teams went in search of a winner Athletic’s centre forward forced his way through and fired into the bottom corner giving King no chance with less than five minutes to go. Town’s heads didn’t drop and both Morgan-Rowe and Tobin tried in vain to force an equaliser.
For his hard work and effort to keep going for the whole eighty minutes Frank Morgan-Rowe was awarded Leaders Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "Although I was disappointed that we are out of the cup due to a late goal, I was more disappointed that we lost our discipline during the match in which we picked up three times more yellow cards than my teams have picked up in all the years I have been involved with the team. Two of them were not acceptable for descent and one was obtained through a player reacting inappropriately. This I will discuss at training on Thursday.
The lads have got to learn that when situations arise sometimes in a game that they mustn’t react if a decision goes against them and back chat a referee. He has a job to do and sometimes the decision isn’t going to go in our favour, mistakes are made by us all. I really felt that when we started playing football on a difficult pitch we showed how well we can play and came back strongly and were only denied taking the lead by the underside of the crossbar whilst we were on top. I felt that was the turning point in the match, as I’m sure if we had gone in front we would have won.
Ross had another good game in goal and is growing in confidence with each game. Luke, Connor, Harry and Sam all did well under some extreme pressure at times in the second half against a hard working centre forward who doesn’t let you rest for one second during the match as his winning goal showed.
Matt, Ollie, Frank worked hard in midfield and so did Robbie once he had replaced Paul.
Connor scored another fine goal and Ramz worked tirelessly despite an awful tackle on him in the first half which could have been a straight red card. Michael came on later than I wanted but as we were on top at the time it was difficult to change the team. The lads didn’t drop their heads and kept pressing for an equaliser.
Again a couple of things to work on in training before our next match away to Ashington Cougars on Saturday."
Town Squad: King, Gilmore, Thomas, Parker, Hollidge, Morgan-Rowe, Whibley, Martin, Wrintmore, Islam, Tobin, Watson, Kseniuk.

East Grinstead Town U15’s won their latest away game of the season 6 - 4 against Hurstpierpoint Colts in the Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Town suffered an early setback in the third minute when Colts centre forward looked suspiciously off side to run clean in on goal giving Town keeper Ross King no chance by burying it in the bottom corner. Although Town were stunned by this they fought back strongly and created a couple of good chance themselves but both Connor Tobin and Ramz Islam were unable to beat Colts keeper.
Town though equalised through a stunning strike from Matt Whibley. Colts keeper took a goal kick and from fully 40 yards Whibley volleyed it straight back into the goal. Colts were stunned by this and Town began to pile forwards.
Incredibly Whibley fired in another unstoppable shot from 30 yards that sailed into the top corner leaving Colts keeper stranded.
Town started to play some attractive football and scored a third when a perfectly delivered corner from Frank Morgan-Rowe was powerfully headed in by Tobin.
Colts pulled a goal back right on half time when a well placed shot beat a diving King.
The second half started with both teams having chances before Whibley completed his hat trick with another powerful shot from 20 yards which the Colts keeper managed to save but not before the ball had crossed the line.
Town were piling forwards and further chances were spurned by both Michael Kseniuk and Islam before Whibley scored his fourth and Towns fifth from inside the area. Town switched off and King made a couple of fine saves before Colts pulled a goal back.
After hard work by Robbie Watson kept a ball alive, Islam scored a deserved goal on his debut with a fine header at the back post with five minutes left, but Colts still had time to score their fourth just before the end.
Both teams played their part in an entertaining game in sweltering conditions in which both sets of players were out on their feet.
For his match winning scoring feat Matt Whibley was awarded Leaders Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "The lads deserved this win as they have put a lot of effort in training and despite turning up for the match with both sets of goal posts missing both ourselves and Colts manager wanted to play the game for the lads so a replacement pitch was found at short notice. Although we conceded an early goal, the lads heads didn’t drop but responded brilliantly with both Connor and Ramz causing problems for the Colts defence.
We had numerous chances to equalise before Matt’s stunning strikes gave us a deserved lead and I was really pleased with Connor’s goal as it was a great delivery from Frank. Ross made some vital saves for us.
Our midfield worked really hard in the conditions so a special thanks to Ollie, Paul, Frank and Matt for their efforts to keep control but as they tired I freshened it up by bringing on Michael, Danny and Robbie who all played their vital part for the team. Connor Parker’s ball distribution improves with every game in defence.
Congratulations to Ramz for his hard work and finally he got the goal he deserved. Finally though with Matt’s four goals he is now third top scorer in the league of which three really were truly outstanding strikes at any level of football.
A couple of things to improve on again in training before our Cup match against Horsham Tigers Athletic next week. Well done lads that was the response I was expecting from all of you."

East Grinstead Town U15’s lost at home 0-8 against Lower Beeding & Handcross in their League Cup match.
Town started the game brightly but were unable to take a couple of early chances through Harry Hill and Connor Tobin. The opposition though started to impose themselves and despite some fine saves from Harry Gilmore they eventually took the lead when Town failed to cut a cross out and were punished with a fine volley into the bottom corner.
Town pushed forwards in search of an equaliser but were again hit on the counter attack and another well taken goal doubled their lead. Just before halftime Town could have gone further behind but a fine penalty save from Gilmore kept Town in the game.
Town had to get back in the Cup tie and in the first five minutes of the second half Michael Kseniuk had to excellent chances to do that but both his efforts were saved by the keeper. These two saves were vital as it lifted the opposition and they soon afterwards added a third against the run of play.
Unfortunately despite Town’s efforts to get back in the tie driven forwards by Harry Simonis and Oliver Martin they left themselves stretched at the back and were cruelly punished by conceding a further five goals. Although Town had their own chances they just couldn’t force any of these home.
Connor Parker for never giving up despite the scoreline was awarded Leaders Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "The lads have got to learn quickly that when on top we have to take our chances and keep our shape when chasing the game. Today’s result was disappointing as in the opening twenty minutes we were in good shape and holding our own , yet once they scored a couple of goals we became stretched in trying to get back in the game.
Despite in the second half only having eleven fit players the lads did keep going. It seemed as if the opponents had 'two extra lads' on the pitch which of course they didn't, but they were a good passing side.
We now have an important game against Hurstpierpoint to look forward to and respond positively."

| :: East Grinstead Town U15's 1, Dorkinians U15's 4 :: |
East Grinstead Town U15’s lost their opening home game of the season 4 - 1 against Dorkinians in the Horsham & District Youth League Division B.
Dorkinians started the game brightly but were unable to create an opening. Town took the lead after ten minutes after Michael Kseniuk held off three defenders and slipped a superb ball through for Connor Tobin to cleverly finish into the bottom corner past the advancing goalkeeper. Tobin almost doubled the lead for Town but a sharp shot just crept past the wrong side of the post.
This stirred Dorkinians into their stride and with the wind behind them they equalised from a fine team goal that gave Town’s keeper Harry Gilmore no chance. Town were now on the back foot and only a couple of last ditch tackles from Connor Parker and Harry Simonis and a couple of great saves from Gilmore prevented a further goal. Eventually though the pressure resulted in two further goals just before half time.
Town had to reshuffle the side through injuries at half time but conceded a fourth just after the restart after Gilmore was judged to have brought down a Dorkinians player and they scored emphatically from the resulting penalty to go further ahead.
To their credit Town pressed to get back in the game and started to play some attractive football and almost pulled a goal back when Robbie Watson’s effort was well saved by Dorkinians goalie. Simonis had a couple of good efforts saved and the best save came from a Kseniuk shot which the goalie tipped onto the bar.
As hard as Town tried they couldn’t get back in the game and in the end were indebted to Gilmore making three further excellent saves as they pressed forwards in search of a goal.
For his fine goalkeeping Harry Gilmore was awarded Leaders Man of the Match.
Town's manager Chris Gilmore commented: "Although the result was disappointing we simply did not start to play until we were four one down. The way the lads battled back, responded and didn’t complain about having to play out of their positions due to a couple injuries was a credit to them.
Both Jacob and Sam had to come off despite their efforts to continue due to injuries in the first half which unsettled the side as both full backs had to be replaced leaving us exposed. This was tightened up in the second half but unfortunately the fourth goal proved decisive as it came in the first couple of minutes in the second half.
We created several chances in the second half but just couldn’t take one of them which may have put Dorkinians under pressure. I was really pleased with the lad’s attitude and once we got the ball on the deck we started to pass it around well but just didn’t get any reward for our efforts.
Ollie was asked to play in about three positions and had an excellent game at right back in the second half. Both Harry S and Connor P played well at the heart of the defence despite the game becoming stretched as we pushed forwards in search of a goal.
Matt kept going in the second half despite a knock as we didn’t have any subs to replace him. Harry H and Connor kept battling but just could get enough of the ball. We need to get our midfield to get more ball possession to enable our forwards to get some quality service.
Next week is a cup game and hopefully we should have a full squad to select from."
Town Squad: Gilmore, Allonby, Thomas, Simonis, Parker, Morgan, Whibley, Martin, Watson, Keseniuk, Tobin, Wrintmore, Hill.
