The Under 14s started the game at an excellent pace and were rewarded when Josh Smith latched on to a through ball from Alex Evans and continued his scoring run taking advantage of a mistake in the home defence and giving Wasps an early lead. It was Smith again who, after 10 minutes was fouled by keeper , Furnell, and Luke Collins made no mistake from the spot.
Keeper and man of the match, Reece Wickwar kept the Wasps lead intact with two excellent saves, but was eventually beaten by a controversial penalty after the visitors had clearly handled in the area.
Wasps lost Harry Pressland with a hamstring injury at half time, and Tonbridge seized on a hesitant visitors defence with 2 early goals to take the lead for the first time. A fourth soon followed, but Wasps dug deep and were unlucky not to pull one back after good work from Collins, Burroughs and Aldred.

The Towns juniors were left to reflect on missed opportunities and a lack of concentration as Tonbridge grabbed both points to secure third place in the Tandridge A Division.
Wasps took an early lead when after superb pressure by Sam Aldred, and a neat lay off by Brett Caiger, Josh Smith in his first full season at this level, made to mistake from just inside the area. Tonbridge were looking dangerous on the break and with the Wasps defence failing to clear, an equaliser came when a cross was squeezed in at the far post.
The second half was evenly contested and when the home side wasted a chance to take the lead from a free kick, Tonbridge went down the other end to take the lead. Worse was to come when David Gardner won a penalty, which the visitors keeper saved, and once again Tonbridge raced away to take a 1 - 3 lead.
The Juniors will have an early opportunity to reverse the scores when they travel to Tonbridge next Sunday for the away fixture.

With both sides striving for a top 3 position of the Tandridge A Division, this was always going to be tight and competitive match, and in the end both had to settle for a share of the points. Wasps started the first half in top gear and pinned their opponents back with excellent passing and being first to every loose ball. In the early stages the central midfield pairing of Sam Aldred and Matty Burroughs were excellent and it came of no surprise when leading scorer Brett Caiger latched onto a through ball from Ryan Fenton, neatly chipping keeper Scola from the edge of the box.
However Chipstead are a tough and resilient squad, and came back strongly to equalise through Robinson , and taking advantage of their dominance, scored again before half time through James King .
The second half started well for the Juniors, with strikers Joshua Smith and Caiger looking dangerous, and the Wasps defence of Sam Stewart, Alex Evans, Adam White, Harry Pressland and man of the match Kieran Towner looking sound. After fifteen minutes, good approach play by James Allen and David Gardner, enabled Olly Smith to feed Caiger who notched his twenty fourth of the season with yet another clinical finish. Keeper Reece Wickwar then brilliantly deflected a goal bound effort and from the resultant clearance superb control from Josh Smith saw the striker desperately unlucly with a fierce shot hitting the inside of the post and bizarrely rebounding into the keepers arms. Caiger thought he had secured another hat-rick only to be flagged offside in an extremely tight decision. Wasps continued to dominate the closing stages and at the final whistle had to settle for a draw when a win would have been totally deserved.

The blustery conditions were always going to make flowing football impossible, but the Under 14s started well, with the visitors keeper, Richardson denying both Brett Caiger and captain Matty Burroughs twice in the first 15 minutes. Addington continued to ride their luck , and after 20 minutes grabbed a shock lead when the Wasps defence failed to clear, and Danyan volleyed home in style.
The home side introduced sub Joshua Smith, who immediately introduced more aggression seizing on an error in the visitors defence, and bundling home for an excellent opportunist goal.
The second half started with Wasps on top, and Smith grabbed a second beating keeper Richardson from close range. Halfway through the half, Burroughs took up a central midfield role, and combined well with Alex Evans and Ryan Fenton, to feed the persistent Caiger who put Wasps 3 - 1 up. Luke Collins was denied a penalty, and to make matters worse, Addington broke away and reduced the deficit with a fine solo effort from McGeary.
With five minutes remaining, the visitors went close, but Gardener, Aldred, Burroughs and Collins in midfield and Pressland, Towner, Stewart Evans and keeper Wickwar at the back ensured the juniors held on for a deserved victory.

East Grinstead Under 14s travelled to Catford, and in appalling conditions playing on a pitch where football was impossible, lost to Beckenham Youth by 3 goals to 2. Wasps took the lead after good work by Luke Collins whose pass was neatly converted by Sam Aldred. Beckenham equalised midday way through the first half , but then it was Collins turn to restore the Juniors superiority. Two more goals either side of half time gave the home side the lead, which is how it stayed although efforts from Olly Smith, David Gardner, Ryan Fenton and captain Matty Burroughs on another day would have give Wasps a deserved share of the points.

On Sunday, the Towns winning run of 5 matches came to an end at the hands of treble winners, Waterloo FC.
The visitors who last season won the A division, league cup and London cup, and have not dropped a point during this campaign , arrived with the league asking both sides to pay a "double header" to avoid end of season fixture congestion.
In the first match , keeper Reece Wickwar was outstanding , making three excellent saves to keep Town in the game. Leading scorer Brett Caiger had a real chance to equalise, but was denied by the visitors keeper.
In the second match, the visitors were stunned, when a change of formation allowed lasts weeks 4 goal hero, Olly Smith, to push forward. After excellent work from Burroughs, Aldred and Collins, Smith finished in style and Wasps went in at half time on the brink of a sensational victory. The visitors then showed why they are such a dominant force, scoring 4 in the second half, but the juniors were proud of their efforts and still hopeful of finishing with a top four league position this season

With only eleven fit players from a depleted squad, East Grinstead Town Under 14s travelled to Croydon looking for a fifth consecutive victory. Olly Smith leading the line in the absence of leading scorer, Brett Caiger, took only 55 seconds to open his account latching on to a superb through ball from Ryan Fenton.. Croydon responded well, and for the next 15 minutes were the better team, equalising, after indecision in the Wasps defence. Both sides continued to squander opportunities, and half time arrived with the game in the balance.
Town started the second half well, and Smith grabbed his second after good work by James Allen and Harry Pressland. The tireless Luke Collins then turned defence into attack to provide Smith with his hat-trick, and captain Matty Burroughs made in four with a brave headed goal.. A lack of discipline allowed the home side to reduce the deficit, but the Wasps back five of keeper, Reece Wickwar, David Gardner, Sean Banks, Alex Evans and the outstanding Samuel Stewart, kept a tight control for the remainder of the match. Smith scored his fourth, and Wasps fifth, And was deservedly voted man of the match.

Despite missing Sean Banks, David Gardner and Alex Evans through illness, East Grinstead Town Under 14s strolled to a convincing 5 -1 victory against Croydon Youth.
Wasps enjoyed the perfect start when, after five minutes, Brett Caiger outpaced the visitors defence , and with great composure finished from a difficult angle. The juniors were dominating without moving into top gear and went 2 - 0 up when Josh Smith, returning after a four week absence, swivelled in the area, volleying home in style. Caiger soon recorded his twentieth of the season and Wasps went in at the break, full value for the 3 - 0 scoreline.
Croydon started the second half keen to reduce the deficit, and with the Wasps defence caught square, keeper Reece Wickwar was left exposed , with Harris finishing clinically. Encouraged by this success, the visitors were now looking the better team, but gradually the Towns midfield of Luke Collins, Olly Smith, Sam Aldred, and Ryan Fenton regained the initiative, and striker Smith grabbed a second to restore the comfortable margin. With ten minutes remaining, Smith was again on hand, benefiting from good work by Adam White and Harry Pressland, and with a hatrick under his belt was delighted to receive the man of the match award.

East Grinstead Town Under 14s, following the standards set by the Seniors, moved into third place in the Tandridge A division, with a comfortable away victory against Hamsey Rangers FC.
Captain Matt Burroughs elected to play against the wind and up the slope and the decision looked to be correct when the lively Brett Caiger robbed centre half Sumners, only to miss the target with the keeper to beat.
However Caiger was continue to cause panic in the home defence, and crossed for the in-form David Gardner to slot home. The goal was ruled offside but Caiger was soon to be rewarded , and mid-way through the half grabbed his seventeenth of the season.
With Olly Smith , Sam Aldred ,James Allen and Burroughs controlling the middle, a second goal was inevitable, and it was Caiger again putting the juniors two up at the break.
The second half started with Wasps firmly in control, and with the wind at their backs it was tempting to try long range efforts, but consequently the flowing football from the first half was disrupted. Burroughs and the excellent Sean Banks both forced errors from the home keeper, to increase the lead.
Wasps then lost the injured Harry Presland when an unncessary stamp on the ankle resulted in a straight red card for the hosts full back. Ryan Fenton, Alex Evans and Josh Smith all went close, but it was left To Olly Smith to secure the victory.
Equally encouraging for manager Alan Evans and coach Paul Wadham was the form, particularly in the first half, of the defence, with Adam White, Banks, Samuel Stewart, keeper Reece Wickwar, and man of the match Kieran Towner, keeping a clean sheet.

On Sunday, in the Tandridge A division, East Grinstead Town U14s recorded another away win, travelling to Chipstead and winning by two goals to one. Wasps gained the perfect start with captain Matty Burroughs capitalising on a hesitant home defence and opening the scoring with a cool finish after just 4 minutes. Chipstead soon recovered their exposure and started to dominate the midfield with Wasps leading scorer Brett Caiger being starved of any real service, and at the other end the juniors defence riding their luck with 2 attempts narrowingly missing the post.
It was much the same story at the start of the second half, and despite determined tackling from from Wasps Luke Collins, Olly Smith, Sam Aldred and Adam White, it was no surprise when the home side grabbed the equaliser. Another through ball, bypassing the Wasps midfield, caught the defence in two minds and James King gave the Wasps keeper , Reece Wickwar no chance from close range. With Wasps now looking in danger of losing the match, a change of formation seemed to take the initiative away from the confident hosts .With Burroughs pushed into a forward role, Alex Evans and Harry Pressland, replacing White and Smith, Wasps started to pressurise the home defence with Caiger forcing 2 corners . With eight minutes remaining, after good work from David Gardner on the left flank, the cross found Burroughs in the area, who made no mistake giving Wasps a now deserved lead . The juniors continued to press home the advantage and finished the stronger side, securing a victory which moves the team into fourth place in the top division.

BURROUGHS BRACE SECURES WIN
After last week's cup defeat, East Grinstead Town Under 14s stormed to a superb victory, three nil, away to a strong Tulse Hill team.
The early exchanges were fairly even with both teams trying to gain control of the midfield, but after 20 minutes Matty Burroughs revelling in a central role beat keeper Afflick with a clean strike from the edge of the area.
The Wasps midfield were now dominant with James Allen and Sam Aldred on the flanks aware of their defensive duties, and in the middle, Luke Collins and Olly Smith being first to the ball.
After 10 minutes of the second half, a Ryan Fenton inswinging corner was headed into the box by Burroughs, and as the keeper failed to gather, the same player made no mistake to grab his second of the match. Wasps were by now in control, and with the defence of Kieran Towner, Sam Stewart, Sean Banks ,Adam White and keeper Reece Wickwar, looking comfortable, the points looked to be secured.
However, Tulse Hill continued the battle, a corner skimmed the crossbar, a last ditch tackle by White was crucial, and Wickwar did very well to hold on to a stinging volley. With 12 minutes remaining, top scorer Brett Caiger fed Aldred who rounded off an excellent performance for the juniors with a clinical finish. Caiger, a constant threat throughout the match, was then desperately unlucky to see a crisp volley come off the crossbar and be cleared to safety.

At the beginning of the second half , Hastings used the wind to their advantage, and the Wasps defence of keeper Reece Wickwar, Alex Evans, Adam White Sean Banks and captain Matty Burroughs needed to concentrate to keep the clean sheet intact. East Grinstead Town Under 14's moved into round 3 of the Sussex County cup with a hard fought but convincing display against Crowborough league leaders, Broad Oak and Horam Juniors.
The visitors started brightly and Town had an early wake up call when full back Adam White was alert enough to clear a dangerous cross. However, Wasps gradually took control of the midfield with Luke Collins, David Gardner, Sam Aldred and Olly Smith looking a formidable unit, and it was from a surging run from Gardner that forced the Broad Oak defence to concede an own goal.
Playing with the wind, it was disappointing that Wasps failed to extend the lead, although debutant Josh Smith, and the ever improving Brett Caiger were denied by the woodwork.
The home side started the second half determined to keep the lead intact, with White, captain Sean Banks, Matty Burroughs and Alex Evans, protecting keeper Reece Wickwar, by restricting the visitors to long range efforts. With 20 minutes remaining Luke Collins tireless display was rewarded, as Wasps increased the lead, and Josh Smith secured the victory giving brave keeper, Peter Lopez no chance with a well placed strike.
Kieran Towner and Samuel Stewart replaced Gardner and Smith, and although the visitors hit the post late on, Wasps now look forward to another home tie versus the winners of Hastings Youth and Glenco FC.

East Grinstead Town Under 14s started their Tandridge A Division league campaign with a difficult away fixture against last seasons runners-up, Whyteleafe FC, and were most unlucky to finish with a 3 - 2 defeat.
Wasps opened the scoring when David Gardner maintained his recent goal scoring run, putting the visitors in front with a cool finish after good work by Luke Collins. With Ryan Fenton creating havoc on the left, another goal was likely, but as the first half drew to a close, the home side grew stronger and two long range efforts produced a flattering 2-1 half time scoreline.
With newcomers Olly Smith, Shaun Banks and keeper, Reece Wickwar fitting in well, Wasps started the second half with every confidence of equalising. As time went on, the juniors grew anxious, and conceded a third following a Whyteleafe counter-attack. Refusing to give up, a superb attacking move was rewarded when Fenton found the alert Brett Caiger, and last seasons top scorer opened his account after rounding a defender.
A defeat was hard to take, but the Under 14s will go into new weeks County Cup game with Southdown with a high level of optimism.
