:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 4, Henfield Under 12's 1 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
East Grinstead Town continued their good form despite a slow start. Birch opened up the scoring, skilfully rounding the keeper after being put through by Rhys White.

The Caribbean style weather then seemed to reduce East Grinstead to a slower pace as Henfield came back into the game with East Grinstead fortunate to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

A more determined performance in the second half was needed as the game became more physical with some hard but fair tackles. An early strike from Fletcher settled the nerves however this was not a game for the faint hearted and as East Grinstead battled more opportunities came their way. A stunning strike from Rhys White which was soaring towards the top corner was miraculously saved by the Henfield keeper diving high to his right, which dervedly brought a round of applause from both sets of supporters.

However, it was Henfield against the run of play who got back into the game, with the ball taking a fortunate bounce off a difficult pitch to make it 2-1. Wasps then spent a nervous 10 minutes against a pumped up Henfield team and did well to defend a difficult period.

East Grinstead again raised the tempo and this time it was too much for Henfield to handle with two more goals coming from Fletcher to make the final score 4-1, still making it possible for Town to gain promotion.

:: Storrington Vipers Under 12's 1, East Grinstead Town Under 12's 5 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
A power packed display from EGTFC overcame second placed Storrington Vipers with a resounding 5-1 victory. Determination, first to the ball and closing down space all allowed Town to control the game. Despite an attempt to play the offside trap Town's pace up front and a controlling midfield allowed them overcome the Vipers despite conceding an early goal.

Every player put in a strong performance but special mention goes to Luke Warburton, Tommy Dixon, Daniel Axten and Robert Pollard who provided the strong defensive platform.

Goals from Daniel Axten (2) Luke Warburton, Scott Fletcher and David Birch secured victory early on but there could have been more goals with Town hitting the post and a couple of decent saves from the Vipers keeper keeping EGTFC at bay.

:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 8, Hurstpierpoint Under 12's 1 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
A potentially tricky game against Hurstpierpoint was dealt with a very disciplined and professional approach by the Wasps, although it did take a little while to get into the groove.

Three nil up at half time the floodgates opened up in the second half, and it was more of a surprise that EGTFC did not score more than their dominance deserved. Strong performances from the whole team and in particular Sam Davies enabled East Grinstead to continue their push for promotion however with four games in seven days it will be a tough finish to the season.

Next Match AWAY to Old Dorkinian Saints Saturday 14th April

:: Royal United Under 12's 1, East Grinstead Town Under 12's 5 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
East Grinstead Town took control from start as Toby Sawyer scored with a neat header in the opening five minutes as Town dictated the play. However after missing a couple of chances they allowed Royal United back into the game from their only real chance in the first half coming from a defensive error. Town immediately replied with a stunning strike from Daniel Byrne as his 25 yard shot soared into the top corner and, with another cool finish from Sawyer, Wasps went into half time with 3-1 lead.

Royal United came out in the second half a different team as they began to close down space helping them to gain more possession. East Grinstead took a long time to get going however when they did they put in a devastating display. After the disappointment of having Scott Fletcher's goal disallowed for offside after good work from the hard working David Birch it was Rhys White who scored with two well taken strikes to make it 5-1 showing why he is such a valued player in the East Grinstead team.

:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 2, Old Dorkinians Under 12's 3 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
Despite dominating the first half, and with a number of efforts blocked by a resolute Old Dorkinians defence, EGTFC unbelievably found themselves a goal down at half time from OD's only effort on goal which came from a defensive error.

In the second half Wasps again had most of the possession and early on Scott Fletcher was put through pulling the goalkeeper wide and hitting the top corner with a well taken strike. East Grinstead again took control of the game but against the run of play Old Dorkinians struck, first with a unstoppable long range effort and then with a scrambled goal following a corner. However, EGTFC pulled themselves back into the match as Rhys White put through Daniel Byrne, who took his goal well, as Wasps now pressed for the equaliser. Despite the pressure, a number of corners and a last minute effort which saw the ball go agonisingly past the post, Old Dorkinians held on for a fortunate win.

:: Horsham Sparrows Under 12's 0, East Grinstead Town Under 12's 6 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
East Grinstead Town, down to only ten players due to a catalogue of injuries, did it again by beating a full strength Horsham 6-0.

An in-form East Grinstead, bubbling with confidence, managed to overcome a heavy pitch and a particularly over zealous referee by taking control of the game in the first half. Strong performances from David Birch and the impressive Scott Fletcher put the Wasps in command with Fletcher scoring two and Rhys White adding one just before half time to go in three up.

Led by Daniel Axten and Tommy "Safe Hands" Dixon in goal, East Grinstead Town looked strong in all departments and began to turn on the style in the second half resulting in Birch and White opening up the Horsham defence to allow Fletcher to add two more well taken goals.

Wasps then entertained the crowd with the move of the match resulting in Rhys White feeding the ball into Daniel Byrne on the wing. Byrne's pace allowed him to get behind Horsham's defence to whip in an inch-perfect cross for Fletcher to rifle into the top corner making the score 6-0 and confirming East Grinstead Town's position as title contenders.

:: Ashington Cougars Under 12's 2, East Grinstead Town Under 12's 4 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
East Grinstead Town Under 12's took on their 'A' Division rivals Ashington Cougars, and despite East Grinstead only having ten players, they outran and outfought their opponents to secure a stunning 4-2 win.

An early penalty was awarded to East Grinstead after Scott Fletcher was brought down having turned his defender inside out and Rhys White coolly converted to go one up. Ashington then equalised after a well taken header from a corner and the teams went in at half time all square.

On a heavy pitch Ashington put East Grinstead under pressure early in the second half, and from another corner East Grinstead suddenly found themselves 2-1 down.

However, East Grinstead then started to dominate, as their superior fitness began to tell, and a telling pass from David Birch put Daniel Byrne through to score with a well executed finish. East Grinstead increased the tempo of the game as they out battled their opponents with Daniel Axten leading the team by example with excellent tackling and telling passing.

All players then raised their game for the last ten minutes and it was no surprise to see East Grinstead add two more goals from Scott Fletcher and Daniel Byrne to secure a well deserved 4-2 victory with some superb individual performances resulting in a great team effort.

:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 0, Ockley Acorns Under 12's 5 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
EGTFC bowed out of the Frank Geiss Memorial Cup but the score line did not reflect the dominance that the Wasps had in the first half, as they missed a penalty and then conceded an own goal to go in a goal down at the break.
A defensive mix-up and then another own goal handed Ockley a three goal lead from which EGTFC could not recover.
Daniel Byrne then hit the post for EGTFC with a curling 25 yard free kick, and it just seemed that luck was not going to be on their side, as Ockley battled to the end and scrambled two late goals.
The score line was flattering and there was little difference between the two teams.

:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 6, Heron Olympic Under 12's 2 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
East Grinstead Town moved into the quarter finals of the Frank Geiss Memorial Cup at the expense of Heron Olympic who were previously unbeaten in the Horsham League.
Early pressure paid off as Scott Fletcher scored with two well taken strikes with Rhys White controlling the midfield, and Daniel Axten and Fraser Hunt putting in commanding performances at the back along with Sam Davies and Robert Pollard.
East Grinstead added another goal through David Birch early in the second half as a tactical change saw Luke Warburton and Daniel Byrne begin to stretch Heron Olympic's defence.
However, East Grinstead sat back and were punished twice for failing to clear the ball as Heron Olympic got back into the game with two goals. EGTFC then raised their game to a new level and added three more goals through Warburton, Birch, and Rhys White who scored with a spectacular 20 yard drive to cap off a fine performance and was deservedly voted player of the match by the parents.

:: Albury Eagles Under 12's 0, East Grinstead Town Under 12's 2 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
East Grinstead Town moved back into second place in the Horsham League after a great team performance. Daniel Axten opened up the scoring with a finely executed header. However, a hotly disputed penalty gave Albury a chance to get back into the match but Tommy Dixon produced a world class save as he leapt like a salmon to deny Albury.

In the second half East Grinstead began to outrun their opponents and after a period of sustained pressure it was Nicholas Karaolis with blockbuster of a shot from 25 yards that put East Grinstead into a 2-0 lead.

The result flattered Albury and it was only their keeper that kept the score line down.

:: Hurstpierpoint Under 12's 0, East Grinstead Town Under 12's 6 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
EGTFC Under 12's continued their impressive climb towards the top of the table as they crushed Hurstpierpoint 6-0.

Dominating the first half the Wasps could only manage one goal from Birch despite creating a number of chances only to be foiled by the Hurstpierpoint goalkeeper.

The second half saw EGTFC at their best as they began stroke the ball around with excellent movement off the ball. Scott Fletcher added two more goals and Karaolis struck with one of his thunderous long range shots for which he is becoming renowned for to put EGTFC into a 4-0 lead.

Alex Williams, whose tackling in midfield was a highlight, capped a fine second half performance as he added two more goals as EGTFC cruised to a 6-0 victory.

:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 5, Old Dorkinians Saints Under 12's 1 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
In a fiercely competitive match between two of the top teams in the Horsham League it was East Grinstead Town who out ran and out fought their opponents to win 5 - 1 and protect their perfect 100% record.

However, it was Old Dorkinians Saints who went into the lead against the run of play. East Grinstead simply turned up the heat and they proved that they were too hot to handle with two goals from Karaolis and Birch putting them into a 2 -1 lead at half time.

Birch and Fletcher are proving that they are a lethal partnership and with the assistance of White and Byrne in midfield East Grinstead increased their lead with two further goals coming from Fletcher to secure his hat trick. Rhys White made it 5-1 with an excellent header from a well worked free kick straight from the coaching manual, and it was Saints who began to lose the plot.

A superb all round display with every player turning in a strong performance - it was a well deserved victory from a team that is on top of its game.

:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 11, Cranleigh Under 12's 1 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
East Grinstead continue to remain undefeated in the Horsham League after a power packed performance against Cranleigh. Unbelievably, the score line flattered the visitors with the woodwork being struck six times and the Cranleigh keeper turning in the performance of his life.

Three goals in the first half gave EGTFC a comfortable lead and an enterprising tactical change at half time saw the EGTFC goalkeeper Tommy Dixon make his first appearance as an outfield player. Further goals from Fletcher, Byrne, and Birch pushed EGTFC into a comfortable lead but it was always going to be Dixon's day as he punished the Cranleigh defence with two well taken goals to add to his clean sheet in the first half.

:: East Grinstead Town Under 12's 6, Horsham Sparrows Under 12's 2 :: back to top Go to the top of the page
EGTFC continued their impressive form and maintained their 100% record in the Horsham League with an emphatic 6 - 2 win against Horsham Sparrows.

An early strike from the in form Fletcher put Town ahead but Horsham responded with two strikes to lead 2 - 1. EGTFC continued to press and were rewarded with another Fletcher goal to reach halftime with the score at 2 - 2.

A tactical change at break seemed to bring out the best of EGTFC as they began to open up the Horsham defence and when a sweet through ball from Birch found Byrne running into to space, Byrne rifled the ball into the top corner. Town now began to dominate and the flood gates opened with well taken strikes from Fletcher and Birch.

Fletcher sealed a memorable performance with his fourth goal to make it 6 - 2.

The second half saw EGTFC open up Kirdford with good movement off the ball combined with their usual high tempo passing game. Goals soon came from Scott Fletcher and Joshua Brunsdon with Nicholas Karaolis and Luke Warburton adding to the score line with well taken goals.

As EGTFC eased up towards the end they allowed Kirdford to score with a well deserved goal.

EGTFC Under 12's continued their rich vein of form with an impressive and hard fought victory away to Henfied to remain unbeaten in the Horsham League.

Right from the start EGTFC dominated and took an early lead through Rhys White and were soon awarded a penalty for deliberate handball when poised to score - however EGTFC were unable to take advantage and went in at half time only one goal to the good.

As expected Henfield came out in the second half a more determined team however, EGTFC raised their game even further as they out fought and out battled Henfield in midfield with Daniel Byrne and Luke Warburton leading by example. A second goal came from David Birch however, against the run of play, the EGTFC defence allowed Henfield back into the game at 2-1.

EGTFC's response was simply to raise the tempo as they continued to put Henfield under pressure. They were rewarded with well taken goals from Joshua Brunsdon, Scott Fletcher and Dillon Buttle and were deservedly cheered off the pitch.

EGTFC travelled to Billinghurst on Saturday and came away with an impressive 5-0 victory.

An own goal set EGTFC on their way, and two well taken strikes from the ever impressive Birch put EGTFC into a three goal lead at half time.

EGTFC had to contend with the uphill slope in the second half however their fitness and determination proved to be too much for Billingshurst as they began to dominate towards the end. Birch added another goal to complete his hat trick whilst Fletcher netted after almost running the length of the pitch to secure a well deserved victory. Strong performances from Daniel Axten and Sam Davies in the heart of the defence and neat passing from Brunsdon were a feature of the game.

East Grinstead started their new season in the Horsham League with a win against newly promoted Albury Eagles.

Dominating for long periods the score line flattered the visitors and it was only good goalkeeping and the woodwork that kept the score down. A goal from Scott Fletcher put EGTFC ahead but a mistake at the back let Albury Eagles equalise just before half time against the run of play.

The second half saw EGTFC dominate for long periods and goals came from David Birch and Robert Pollard (2).Albury Eagles replied with two goals but it was never going to be enough to take the sting out of the Wasps.
