East Grinstead Town III got their first win under new manager Rickie Revell when they overcame St Francis Rangers III 7-4 in the first round of the Sussex Junior Cup on Saturday.
The home side took an early lead but Grinstead responded with a 25th-minute equaliser when Brett Holmden converted Dave Holmden's corner from close range.
Scott Johnson put Wasps ahead ten minutes later following good work by Maik Chambers and before half-time Revell had made it 3-1 from Brett Holmden's cross.
St Francis responded by scoring twice at the start of the second half and nearly got a penalty only for the referee to change his mind after Miles Neville's challenge on the edge of the box and award a free-kick instead.
This was just the spur Grinstead needed and Keiron Conacher restored their lead. Further goals in the last 20 minutes from Conacher, Johnston and Revell completed what was ultimately a comfortable victory.
