A local derby that never got going was the feeling at the end of a match that Wasps could not get control of. Town certainly started the stronger and had most of the possession in the first 15 minutes. However, it was the home side who created the first couple of chances against the run of play. Town took the lead on 25 minutes when Elstrom Die's mazy run ended with him being fouled in the box and the referee had no choice but to award the penalty. Steve Major powerfully struck the penalty to give Town the lead. However Town lost their way from this moment and the scores were level on 35 minutes following a goalkeeping error. Town still had time to waste a couple of chances before half time and the score remained at 1-1.
The second half saw an improvement in Town's defence and they were rarely troubled. However saw poor passing meant that Town were unable to mount any reasonable attacks. In the last 10 minutes Town started to press for the winner as they probably enjoyed their best spell of the game. It was, however, too little too late and game finished all square. The positives from the evening were first runs of the season for Mann, Neville and Wallace who were all returning from injury.
This was a game that Town should have won but ended up losing it to a late goal in the 88th minute.
After an even start, it was Town who created the first chance when Grant Rigler had his first shot saved and the second cleared from the line. Against the run of play the visitors scored but this spurred the wasps on and they dominated the last 10 minutes of the half. The equaliser eventually came in the 44th minute when Steve Major was put through and beat the keeper from close range.
Immediately from the kick off Town switched off and conceded again and the score was 2-1 at half time to the visitors.
The second half was all Town with a much better tempo to the game. However, chances went begging and Town also hit the post and the bar. The introduction of the two subs, Clark-ward and Gates, lifted the team and they deservedly equalised when dean Coomber's header was met by Matt Gates at the near post, who headed in. Town still had chances and time to win the game but that little bit of luck was not with them. They then fell for that sucker late punch which meant Town were denied any points from the game.

A disappointing and lacklustre performance by the Reserves saw them kick off the season with a defeat to Chipstead.
It was a game of few opportunities for both teams, with the only goal in the first half coming from the penalty spot after a blatant push in the box. Town had gone close in the first half, from a Steve Major free kick and a Sam Fildes shot but chances were sparse. The second half started with Wasps best spell of the game and for twenty minutes they controlled the game without carving out any real chances. Chipstead extended the lead by way of a free kick on the edge of the box after 70 minutes and scored a late third..
