East Grinstead played their part in an entertaining Reserve team game but came away with no points. The first half was quite even with Eastbourne taking
the lead after 20 minutes from a corner. Town came back into the game and put some good moves together in midfield but just lacked that killer instinct
in front of goal.
The second half saw Gary Wright make his debut for the Reserve team and he had a good game in centre midfield. Town should have equalised after sixty
minutes when an excellent long ball from Scott woolley found Adam Simpson unmarked at the far post. Unfortunately Simpson could only direct his header
wide of the goal. Town still continued to press for the equaliser and Andrew Twinn was only denied with a last ditch tackle following a surging run into
the Eastbourne box. Special mention to Richard Foyle who had an outstanding game in defence for Town.
Eastbourne finally decided the game in the 80th minute with a breakaway goal as Town pushed forwards.

After weathering the first 5 minutes from Bridges, Town started to control the game. Ben Burns squandered a good chance after 15 minutes and Elvis Lynn
also went close. It was the home side who took the lead after half an hour when Town defended poorly at the back post. On the stroke of half time Town
were level; a good turn and cross from Burns found Matt Thorpe who fired in a powerful shot from 20 yards.
The second half saw Town have the best spell of the game; they pressed Bridges back onto the defensive and looked much quicker and first to the ball.
Once again Bridges scored, very much against the run of play. For the next 15 minutes Town struggled to put any meaningful attacks together.
With 5 minutes remaining, richard Houghton was released wide on the right; his pass found Jimmy Horner who beat the keeper from 15 yards to give Town a
share of the points.
The draw keeps Town in the top six whilst Bridges remain in one of the four relegation places.
Team: Whibley, Woolley, Turville, Stratton, Benton, Lynn, Norris, Thorpe, Horner, Arrow and Burns
Subs (All Used): Houghton, Garrett and Foyle.

The result was well deserved for Town but it did not show the complete dominance they had in this game. Town were the
more brighter and hungrier team and in the first half created numerous opportunities for the front pair of Adam Simpson
and Ben Burns. At half time with the game goaless it looked like it was going to be just one of those days.
The Town defence was outstanding throughout and Lee Whibley was able to keep his thid consecutive cleansheet. The second
half once again saw Town dominate proceedings but they still could not manage to score that all important goal. In the
82nd minute the breakthrough finally happend. Nick Levett made a tremendous run from left back and was brought down in the
area. The referee refused to give the penalty but awarded a corner to Town. Th corner was swung over by Jimmy Horner and
Matt Thorpe spectacularly scored with an overhead kick to give Town the three points their performance deserved.
Town have now moved up to fourth place in the Reserve Section Premier Division and can look forward to a visit from top
of the table Horsham YMCA on Saturday at East Court.

| :: Whitehawk Reserves 0, East Grinstead Town Reserves 3 :: |

Town Reserves negotiated a difficult away game at Whitehawk with a tremendous all round team performance which
lifted them to 6th place in the Reserve Section Premier League. The first half saw Town show their battling
qualities as they defended against the elements. Town can be grateful that keeper, Lee Webley, was on top form as he
made two excellent saves in the first half. Whilst Town conceded both territory and possesion in the first half they
did create two very good opportunities for themselves. The first was a flowing five man move which was nearly
stabbed in at the far post and the second was an excellent piece of individual skill from Jimmy Horner which saw the
Whitehawk keeper make a good save.
Town were pleased to come in at half time with the game goaless and felt that the game was there to be won. The
second half saw Town play outstandingly well as they pinned Whitehawk back into their own half. With Webley now a
spectator, Town created numerous chances before Ben Burns headed the all important first goal. Burns doubled the
lead with a long range speculative shot which found the corner of the net.
With Jimmy Horner and Andy Twinn both going close, Town were in complete control. It was left to Burns to complete
the scoring and his hat trick when he chipped the advancing keeper from 15 yards.
Manager Phil Major was delighted with the performance; "In the County League Whitehawk is one of the most
difficult places to come and get a result. To take all three points and completly dominate the second half was an
outstanding performance by the whole squad".
Team: Webley, Woolley, Levitt, Stratton, Benton, Horner, Norris, Lynn, Twinn, Burns and Simpson.
Subs (All Used): Turville, Garrett and Foyle.

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 4, Sidley United Reserves 0 :: |

Sidley were the visitors to East Court for this Premier League Reserve match on Wednesday evening. The first half
saw Town put in one of their best displays of the season when they passed the ball well and looked sharp up front.
The first goal came on 20 minutes when Jimmy Horners cross picked out Scott Woolley at the far post to head home. It
was Horner who was again the provider after 40 minutes when this time his cross was headed home by Ben Burns.
The second half saw Sidley come back into the game but they were unable to breakdown a Town defence in which Peter
Benton and Sam Stratton were outstanding. Town did pick up the pace in the final 10 minutes and Matt Garrett cooly
slotted home a goal before another stike from Ben Burns completed the scoring.
Team: Webley, Woolley, Stratton, Benton, Turville, Horner, Thorpe, Norris, Twinn, Burns and Simpson.
Subs (All Used): Lynn, Foyle and Garrett

We went a goal down by a penalty when Scott Woolley brought the forward down. Equalised just before half time from a good
shot by Adam Simpson.
The second half saw Matt Thorpe hit the bar twice before Hassocks were awarded a penalty which never was. If Nobbo can
sprint 40 yards to thereferee on this decision you know what a bad decision it was.
Worth noting that Hassocks first team had played Friday night and a number were on duty in this game including both of the
Harding boys - However we should still have beaten them.

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 1, Uckfield Town 2 :: |

The Reserves lost in the Quarter-Final of the Mid Sussex Charity Cup to County Division Three team, Uckfield Town.
The game started very well for Town who were on top in the early exchanges. Town went close from corners on three
occasions but could not get that all important opening goal.
During the first half Uckfield rarely ventured into the Town half. The total domination paid off after 35 minutes
when a flowing move involving six players finished with Adam Simpson scoring from 15 yards.
Town went out in the second half confident of winnning the game and whilst Uckfield did have a little more
possession the first 15 minutes of the second half they never created a goal scoring opportunity. The game changed
on the hour mark when an East Grinstead player was sent off. The referee only choose to book 2 Uckfield players in
the incident which left Town playing one man down. Uckfield made full advantage of the extra man and scored two
goals in the final 20 minutes.

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 4, Whitehawk Reserves 0 :: |
The Reserves kept their good league form going with a comfortable win against Whitehawk. The win puts them up to 5th
place in the County Premier Reserve League and they have games in hand on those above them.
Town got off to the perfect start when a mistake by the Whitehawk keeper after a couple of minutes gifted John
Richardson a tap in goal. After 15 minutes Town had doubled he lead when Ben Burns coolly slotted the ball past the
advancing keeper. Town were in complete control and had at least three other good opportunities to extend the lead
before half-time but let the chances go begging.
The second half started with Whitehawk dominating both territory and possession. In the 60th minute Whitehawk got
behind the Town defence but fortunately Lee Webley made an important save. This seemed to kick- start Town into
action and a good run and cross from the lively Andy Twinn found Richard Houghton, who made no mistake with a volley
from 10 yards. Town finshed the visitors off after 75 minutes when an excellent pass by Steve Norris picked out
James Upton, who calmy scored with a shot into the bottom right hand corner.
It was good to see full back Nick Levitt make a debut for the club in the second half. Town can be very pleased with
their overall display and can look forward with confidence with their away match at second placed Chichester City on
Saturday.
Team: Webley, Foyle, Woolley, Stratton, Turville, Twinn, Norris, Lynn, Mann, Burns and Richardson

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 3, Barcombe 2 :: |
The Reserves progressed to the quarter-final stages of the Mid Sussex Senior Charity Cup when they defeated Barcombe
from the Mid Sussex Premier Division. Town started confidently and created a number of half chances in the first 20
minutes. However, their early domination failed to provide a goal and it was the visitors that took the lead after
30 minutes.
Trailing 1-0 at half - time, Town knew that they had a hard 45 minutes ahead of them. They got the perfect start to
the second half when in the first minute Ben Burns hit a tremendous shot from 30 yards which looped over the keeper
into the net. When it appeared that Town would take control of the tie, a defensive lapse gave the visitors the
lead once again after 55 minutes. Town continued to take the game to Barcombe but could not find that all important
goal. With 20 minutes remaining Town gambled and pushe a third striker onto the pitch. It worked perfectly and with
10 minutes remaining an Andy Twinn cross was met by substitute Chris Arrow, who made no mistake with the header from
6 yards.
Town were now pressing for the win and ensuring that extra time was not required. It was another substitue, Seb
Mann, who did the trick. He was released on the left hand side and ran with the ball for 30 yards before unleashing
a powerful drive from the edge of the box to give Town victory.
The Reserves are back to County Premier Reserve League action this Saturday when they welcome Whitehawk to East
Court.
Team: Webley, Foyle, Hearn, Woolley, Stratton, Lynn, Norris, Upton, Twinn, Burns and Richardson

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 3, Hassocks Reserves 1 :: |
The Reserves stormed into the Semi-Final of the Sussex County Reserve Cup when they came from a goal down to defeat
Hassocks. The game started with the visitors taking control, which was not surprising as the East Grinstead
Reserves had not played for almost a month. Hassocks took the lead following some poor marking from a corner
allowed a Hassocks player a free header. The header was only partially blocked and a Hassocks forward scored from
close range. Up to this point Town had created very little; however this changed after 35 minutes when an elusive
run from John Richardson saw him pass to Ben Burns. Burns was forced wide by a defender but still managed to get a
powerful right foot shot into the bottom left hand corner.
With the scores level at half time Town knew a good start in the second half was important. They got the perfect
start in the second half when Hassocks conceded a free kick 30 yards from their goal after only a couple of minutes
into the half. Up stepped Scott Woolley to hit an unstoppable shot which gave the Hassocks keeper no chance.
Hassocks then exerted 10 minutes of pressure on the Town goal. Town Keeper, Lee Webley, was in commanding form and
he was helped by a disciplined back four of Woolley, Raymond, Foyle and Turville. Having survived this onslaught,
the Town midfield pairing of Norris and Upton, started to win the midfield battle once again. This enabled wide
players, Andy Twinn and Richard Houghton, to get behind the Hassocks defence. Michael Turville, who had an excellent
game, made one tremendous surge down the left hand side before he was clinically brought down.
The Town domination finally paid off when John Richardson volleyed into the net from 15 yards after 75 minutes to
seal a good cup win for Town. Manager Phil Major was delighted with the spirit within the team as they look forward
to another Cup Quarter-Final this week when the Reserves face a home tie against Barcombe in the Mid-Sussex Senior
Charity Cup.
Team: Whibley, Foyle, Turville, Norris, Woolley, Raymond, Twinn, Upton, Burns, Richardson and Houghton.
Subs All Used: Mann, Celani and Grange.

| :: Yapton 2, East Grinstead Town Reserves 0 :: |
The Reserves bowed out of the Sussex Intermediate Cup to Yapton from the West Sussex Premier League with a display
which can best be forgotten. Two early first half goals settled the Cup tie in a match where the Reserves put in a
very lethagic performance. The overall play of the team was poor and only a few players came away from the game with
any credit.
Seb Mann worked very hard on the left hand flank and Scott Woolley also put in a good performance in the centre of
defence. The front two, Chris Arrow and Andrew Goodwin, had poor service throughout the game but to their credit
battled and worked hard for the full 90 minutes.
A better performance is required on Saturday when the Reserves are in League action away to Rye.
Team: Whibley, Celani, Moore, Woolley, Bruce, Mann, Upton, Brockbank, Houghton, Arrow and Goodwin.

Another Cup win for Town as they progressed into the Quarter Finals of the County Reserve Section Cup. Town had the
best start possible when Scott Woolley opened the scoring after one minute. Richard Houghton doubled the lead after
20 minutes when he followed in Kevin Wright's shot to score from close range. The visitors pulled one back after 35
minutes with their first attack on the Town goal.
It was vital that Town started the second half positively and they did just that. James Upton scored with a header
to make it 3-1 and then Elvis Lynn fired in the fourth from 15 yards. Although St Francis grabbed a goal back it was
left to Adam Currier, making his dbut for the Reserves, who came off the bench to score 2 well taken goals and give
Town the win they deserved.
It was good to see Steve Moore make a second half appearance following a lenghty time out through injury.
Team: Whibley, Raymond, Turville, Woolley, Wright, Houghton, Norris, Upton, Lynn, Richardson and Mann
Subs (All Used): Moore, Celani and Currier

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 3, Trumpton Town 1 :: |
The Reserves recorded another Cup Victory as they progressed to the 3rd Round of the Mid Sussex Senior Charity Cup.
Town were always the more dominant side and if they had taken more of their chances they would have won comfortably.
It was an ideal game for Town tointroduce some new faces to the team. Richard Houghton, new to the area, had a good
game on the right hand side and James Upton, a product of the Youth system had a very good game in the centre of
midfield.
Town took the lead when John Richardson scored with a tremendous strike from the edge of the box. This was all Town
had to show for in a first half where they created numerous chances. The second half started with Town control
proceedeings but in rare corner for Trumpton after 50 minutes they equalised with a far post header.
Immediately Town went on the attack and within two minutes had regained the lead when John Richardson stabbed the
ball home from 5 yards after the keeper spilled a shot. Town then began playing their best football of the game as
the visitors tired. An excellent shot from James Upton was saved by the keeper but Seb Mann was on hand to fire the
rebound into the net.
It was good to see Kevin Wright returning from injury and play the full 90 minutes.
Team: Whibley, Moseley, Jones, Turville, Wright, Houghton, Brockbank, Upton, Lynn, Richardson and Alexander.

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 6, Rye & Iden Reserves 3 :: |
This was an important win for the Reserves which lifts them to fourth place in the Reserve Section Premier
Division. However, the game did not start well for Town as they let the visitors dictate the first 10 minutes. It
was therefore no surprise when they took the lead after a header had hit the crossbar.
The goal seemed to spur the Town side into life and the next 25 minutes saw them play the best football they have
played all season. With Steve Norriss rolling back the years, he controlled the game from midfield with some
excellent passing. Town deservedly got on level terms when Adam Simpson fired the ball home from 15 yards. It was
Simpson again who got the second goal, when headed in a Ben Alexander free kick. Town were on the rampage and
squandered a couple more chances before John Richardson rolled in Elvis Lynn to score from the edge of the box. In
injury time in the first half the visitors scored their second goal and the 3-2 scoreline did not reflect Town's
dominance.
The second half saw Town start brightly and they extended their lead when Andrew Bruce drove the ball into the
bottom right hand corner from 30 yards. Whilst not playing as fluently as they did in the first half, Town continued
to dominate territory and possession. A Stuart Moseley free kick was clevely headed in by John Richardson to make it
5-1. Although Rye got a goal back it was left to Steve Norris to complete the scoring when he powerfully scored from
the penalty spot with five minutes to go.
It was good to see Dan Celani come on as a late substitute following his broken ankle in a pre-season game at the
start of August. Another impressive performance by the Reserves and they can look forward to another cup tie this
Saturday at East Court when Trumpton are the visitors.
Team: Whibley. Foyle, Turville, Raymond, Bruce, Alexander, Brockbank, Norris, Lynn, Simpson and Richardson.
Subs (All Used): Moseley, Mann and Celani.

| :: Royal & Sun Alliance 1, East Grinstead Town Reserves 2 :: |
The Reserves successfully negotiated this potentially tricky second round tie in the Sussex Intermediate Cup. The
first half saw Town have plenty of possession and territory but without putting the home keeper under any pressure.
A couple of long range efforts and a few dangerous crosses were all they could manage in the first 45 minutes as the
game remained goaless.
A few harsh words from Manager Phil Major sparked the team into life and within two minutes of the restart Town had
taken the lead when Richard Foyle scored from the edge of the box. Some sloppy defending from a corner gave the home
side an equaliser five minutes later but Town soon regained the lead when Andrew Twinn broke down the left and his
cross was deflected into the goal by a defender. Town now picked up the pace and Luke Dunstan, who pushed into the
midfield, could easily have had a second half hat-trick. The Town defence saw out the last 10 minutes without any
scares and fully deserved their place in the next round. Special mention to veteran Steve Norris in the centre of
midfield, who's enthusiasm and running throughout the game was a tremenndous example for the players around him.
Team: Whibley, Jones, Bruce, Woolley, Dunstan, Twinn, Norris, Foyle, Marshall, Arrow and Richardson.

The Reseves comfortably negotiated Bexhill in the County Reserve Section Cup at East Court with a six goal spree.
With Jordan Leatherdale making his first start for the Reserves he could not have made a more positive start. He
finished coolly from 10 metres to give Town the lead after 10 minutes. The lead was soon doubled when John
Richardson, making a welcome return, had a shot that hit the bar only for Phil Thompson to react first to head into
an empty net. Town then put together some excellent flowing moves and from one of these the third goal was scored
after 35 minutes.
Clive Marshall fired the ball home to leave the Bexhill keeper no chance.
The second half was once again dominated by Town. John Richardson added two goals and there was a second goal for
Phil Thompson. Although Ben Brockbank and Matthew Jones did not get on the scoresheet they both had excellent games,
along with young Michael Turville who once again looked assured in defence.
It's another Cup match for the Reserves this week when they travel to Horsham to play Royal & Sun Alliance.
Team: Whibley, Jones, Turville, Raymond, Bruce, Alexander, Brockbank, Marshall, Thompson, Leatherdale and
Richardson

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 3, Cowfold 1 :: |
The Reserves faced Cowfold from the Premier Division of the West Sussex League in the Mid Sussex Senior Charity Cup
and won with an uninspiring display. The game never really got going and the Reserves did just enough to win the
game. It was Cowfod who stuck first after 20 minutes to take the lead and this spurred Town into action. Within five
minutes they were again on level terms when Ben Alexanders corner was not deflected into the goal by a Cowfold
defender for an own goal. The goal did not raise the tempo of the game and the score remained 1--1 at half time.
The second half saw a slight improvement by Town as they took the game to Cowfold. On 65 minutes Town took the lead
when Chris Arrow scored from close range following good build up play. Special mention must go to a couple of
youngsters playing for Town; Michael Turville had an excellent game in defence and did not put a foot wrong. There
was also an encouraging debut for Chris Howson on the left handside who worked very hard throughout the ninety
minutes.
Town wrapped up the win when Matt Garrett, who else, clinically finished from 15 yards when he beat the offside
trap. It is back to County Premier Reserve League action for Town this Saturday when they face an away trip to
Horsham YMCA.

East Grinstead Town Reserves recorded one of their best ever wins of recent times when they visited Ryman League
club, Burgess Hill, and secured a well deserved 4-1 victory in the Reserve Section Premier League. Town started
brightly and were always the more eager team to push forward. The first goal however did not come until 35 minutes
when a Burgess Hill defender blatantly committed a foul in his own penalty area. It was left to captain Steve Norris
to make no mistake from the penalty spot to give Town the lead. Just before half time Town extended their lead when
a cross by Clive Marshall was not cleared by the home defence and Adam Simpson clinically finished with an overhead
kick.
Town did not get the start they required in the second half and within two minutes of the restart Burgess Hill had
scored from close range which gave keeper Lee Whibley no chance. Rather than defend their 2-1 lead, Town went on the
attack and caused the home defence numerous problems. Adam Simpson scored Town's crucial third goal after 60 minutes
to restore the two goal cushion. The Town defence of Hayward, Benton, Bruce and Foyle was tremendous throughout and
that was key to the win. With Ben Brockbank covering every inch of the pitch; their was no way back for Burgess
Hill.
Lehal marksman, Matt Garrett, secured the win on 65 minutes with a true poachers goal. Town introduced Michael
Turville for his debut and he performed very welll in the defence and Andrew Goodwin also played very well in the
last quarter playing out wide. Town were denied a fifth goal when Ben Alexander scored direct from a corner but the
referee saw an infringement on the keeper.
Reserve Team Manager, Phil Major, was delighted with the performance and commented, "This was a superb team
performance and one can build on this in the coming months of the season. Special mention to Phil Hayward who was
outstanding in the centre of defence".

The Reserves made the long trip to Sidley and can be disappointed that they did not come back with at least a point. Whilst
they were playing a very experienced team, Town created numerous chances in the match. The home side scored aftrer 10
minutes and this seemed to spur Town into a little bit more urgency in their play. A good pass by Adam Simpson found Matt
Garrett but his shot was saved by the keeper.
Sidley scored a second goal mid way through the second half but once again Town created opportunities to score. Certainly
the development of youth players was evident as two of the clubs promising youngsters, Andrew Goodwin and James Upton, were
introduced in the second half. Both got into the game quickly and were also both unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

This was a match Town dominated for long periods but a five minute spell midway through the first half saw them
concede two goals which eventually decided the game. Before the home side scored Town had at least four good goal
scoring chances which they squandered.
The second half saw Town dominate the game but once again their finishing let them down. When Town did get the ball
in the back of the net courtesy of Chris Arrow the linesman called it offside but it was clearly a yard onside.
A disappointing result but an encouraging performance and Town Reserves will be keen to bounce back with a home win
this Friday when they welcome Mile Oak to East Court for a 7.30pm kick-off.
Team: Whibley, Foyle, Stares, Raymond, Bruce, Moseley, Norris, Twinn, Dart, Arrow and Garrett.

| :: East Grinstead Town Reserves 0, Eastbourne Borough Reserves 1 :: |
It shows how far the Town's football club has come when they are disappointed to lose by the odd goal to a club from
the Southern League.
The first half was in fact dominated by Town who took the game to the visitors. Excellent play by Ben Brns created
one opportunity for Town for Ben Alexander but he lifted his shot over the bar. Stuart Hardy had two long range
efforts from free kicks narrowly miss the target. At the other end Brian Tilley and Ben Brockbank marshalled the
defence tremendously as they denied Borough any goal scoring opportunities.
Town could feel hard done by tat they went in at half time all square. The second half saw Borough get more
possession of the ball and they scored the all important goal after 70 minutes. To their credit Town pushed forwards
and with Andy Twinn taking a more attacking role they started to unsettle the Borough defence. Unfortunately they
could just not create that equalising goal; however the team can be very sattisfied with their overall display. This
Friday sees another tough match for the Reserves as they travel to Ryman League outfit Lewes for a 7.45pm kick-off.
Team: Whibley, Foyle, Tilley, Brockbank, Bruce, Alexander, Hardy, Twinn, Horner, Burns and Tramontin.

The Reserves maintained their unbeaten start and remain top of the Reserve Section Premier League after this draw on
Friday night. It was a game East Grinstead should have won as they created a number of goalscoring opportunities. A
tremendous save from the visiting keeper prevented Adam Simpson gining Town the lead but it was only another five
minutes before the first goal was scored. A superb strike from 35 yards from Scott Wooley left the Eastbourne keeper
helpless. Town nearly extended the lead when Stuart Moseley volleyed over following a good move. Slightly against
the run of play, Eastbourne equalised just before half-time.
In the second half Grinstead raised the pace of the game and dominated the match. Near misses from Andy Twinn and
Adam Simpson almost gave Town the three points they deserved. However, an excellent double save by Lee Whibley
denied Eastbourne all three points near the end.
Town can now look forward to a top of the table clash this Friday (7.30pm) when they are at home to Dr Martens
League side, Eastbourne Borough, which is sure to be their hardest test of the season so far.
Team: Whibley, Foyle, Raymond, Woolley, Bruce, Moseley, Lynn, Twinn, Brewer, Arrow and Simpson.
Subs (All used): Brockbank, Alexander and Tramontin.

Town Reserves had their first pre-season game when they travelled to Horsham to face County Division 3 team Forest.
Town stunned the home side with a Clive Marshall goal after 45 seconds and nearly doubled their lead after five
minutes when Chris Arrow went close. Andy Twinn made an impressive debut in midfield and he worked well with Ben
Alexander. Town conceded a goal on the stoke of half time and this was just after Marc Tramontin had hit the post
for Town.
Town had the better of the chances in the second half but could not find the winner. A good start to the season for
Town as they prepare for life in the County Reserve Section Premier League this season.
Squad: Rowe, Jones, Matson, Brockbank, Bruce, Marshall, Norris, Twinn, Alexander, Tramontin, Arrow, Mackenzie,
