East Grinstead Town Football Club’s Ladies Team was formed during the close season in 2002 and
enjoyed their first full season in 2002/03 playing in the SE Counties Womens League.
Jim Muir took over as manager for the 2004 / 05 season. The team played in the second division of the Sussex County FA Womens & Girls League, which they led all season, but a loss at eventual league winners Bognor Regis in the last match of the season saw them finish in second place. The side won promotion to Division One of the South East Counties Womens League for the 2005 / 06 season and things were looking bright.
Unfortunately, the ladies team have had to withdraw from the league because of a shortage of players. For a variety of reasons we have lost several members of the squad and only had eight players registered a few days before the season was due to start on September 4.
Ladies football is an important part of the club's committment to providing football for all the community and we hope to get the team up and running again, possible even within the next couple of weeks through a merger. Watch this space
In the meantime, we would like to thank manager Jim Muir and his team for their fine efforts last season.
