East Grinstead Town FC - Looking Forward to Next Season

leigh2a

Leigh Dynan has confirmed he will remain as our first-team manager next season.

Leigh, who took over earlier this year, will have Danny Masters alongside him as assistant for the club’s seventh season in the Isthmian League.

Wasps avoided the possibility of relegation last month when the season was curtailed because of the coronavirus crisis.

Leigh said: “I felt we were definitely making progress and whether that would have been enough to see us climb off the bottom of the table and avoid a play-off by our own means we will never know.

“You could say we have been fortunate, and I have sympathy for clubs who have worked hard to get into promotion positions and been denied the opportunity to go up. But that’s the situation and we have to use it to our advantage. We have more time to plan for the new season and I am really looking forward to putting together a competitive squad for when we start playing again. Danny is an important part of the management team and I’m pleased he’s still with us.

“There is only so much we can do at the moment and everyone’s priority has to be the health of themselves and their families. But we look forward to being back on the pitch some time later this year.”

The club are looking to form an under-23 team to compete in the Isthmian League next season and they are also strengthening their youth section as well.

Andy Willis is taking over as manager of the Under 18s from Bob Wallis and an Under 17 team, to be managed by Ray McWilliam who ran two of our three Under 16 teams last season, is also being planned.

The third and fourth teams will continue to play in the Mid Sussex League and Barry Bryant and Jay De Vito will continue to run the Under 16s.

There will be a new Under 10 and Under 9 team and the club are looking to develop their Disability team and strengthen their partnership with Crawley Wasps Ladies, who played several of their matches at East Court last season.

Chairman Richard Tramontin said: “Leigh, Danny and the committee are committed to trying to get more players from our own youth system into the first team and an Under 23 will help towards that.

“It’s not something that will happen overnight, but we want the best players from the town to be playing for East Grinstead at the good level we have operated at since 2014.”

Off the pitch, the club are looking for volunteers to help with their matchday operation, including a First Team kit person. If you would like to get involved please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
